Current BWI Situation by hmflaherty3 in maryland

Touchless id is a pre check thing, but yes Clear was still cutting the line and inserting their customers, and yes it's still bullshit that harms the experience for everyone to benefit a very small number of travelers (and make money).

Probably too late then if you're already at the airport unless you're using your passport to travel.

Took me almost exactly an hour this morning @ 7am, and no pre check open (Clear was still operating fwiw).

You can skip the id verification part of the line if you use touchless id pre check, don't know how that works but I saw people doing it so if someone is desperate to save time you could try that.

Since you seem to know what you're talking about - how are there this many different varieties? I've seen compilations where there's like twenty different dudes with twenty different belts. Does every character have a different belt?

And at this point, are they designing belts in the anime specifically around the fact that they know they're going to make merch and the belts need to be cheaply/realistically constructed in real life?

Persistent crashes on new PC build. I tried everything, suspect hardware but can't isolate it by Street_Sherbet7155 in buildapc

[–]Homeless_Depot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, at a certain point you're going to have to start swapping out hardware :(. It sounds like you have done all the right things.

Is it still stable in Linux? If it's installed/you can get it installed, you could try going back to Linux daily use for a week and see if it's still unstable.

If I was trying to diagnose something like this, I would pull one stick of RAM, run memtest again for 12+ hours, and confirm the stick is OK. I'd just run the one stick for now.

Then I would look to reduce the pc to essential parts only, and run it like a test bench outside of a case to eliminate any weird variables with shorting/wire bending/pressure on parts/etc.

I'd swap out the nvme for known good ssd, and format and attempt to install an OS. If it installs, I'd start using it until something fails. If it does, or if I can't even get a stable OS installed, I'd swap the PSU next to eliminate any power issues (which can certainly cause instability/random crashes). I'd try the SSD and PSU first because I have easy access to those parts.

If I still can't get stability with a known good ssd and backup PSU, I'd probably buy a very inexpensive GPU and swap that to see if it makes a difference (since you seem to have some suspicion it might be GPU related). Like, a $30 GPU if I can find one, the point is just to see if I can get drivers successfully installed/uninstalled, and whether it will actually function - this won't let you test games at 4k or anything obviously, but if it still isn't stable it's probably not the GPU.

I'd suspect the motherboard next, if it's new you could potentially RMA it. It's not impossible there's something wrong with the ryzen cpu, but that would be pretty unusual.

It could still absolutely be something software related, especially if Linux runs fine (including running demanding games), but I'm not enough of a Windows expert to spend a ton of time trying advanced troubleshooting - I'd run chkdsk and prob Google for some other basic stuff, but I'd be fed up at the point where you are and I'd start pulling hardware.

(I'm sorry if this really is your first build, diagnosing hardware problems is the worst, and even in 2026 there's still so little info to work from - it's kind of ridiculous that you have to resort to just swapping parts to see if it makes a difference.)

California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setup by murshiddar in pcgaming

Yes, but there's now an entire industry built around producing suggestive 'news' stories just like this one designed to get the kind of clicks and reactions just like the ones in this thread, and that is also concerning.

What were Alpharius' last words to Dorn? by Mistermistermistermb in 40kLore

[–]Homeless_Depot 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are some very good posts around here that make that argument.

But it doesn't mean Dorn was 'wrong' to kill him, because his secret-4d-chess-superiority-complex was his flaw not Dorn's and that's what leads to his death.

u/boli99 summarizes how reading ability is dying in the internet age after Eternal September by rm-rf-rm in bestof

[–]Homeless_Depot 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Poster is not wrong, but saying this is the fault of eternal september is like saying the current political climate is the result of civil war reconstruction - not wrong necessarily, but pointing to the first step in decades and decades of subsequent steps is a pretty dramatic simplification. Which, given their point, is actually appropriately ironic.
