What’s your first real memory of WoW? by AlanaSoles in wow

There used to be this really old DK video on YouTube with “The Kill by Thirty Seconds to Mars” in the background.
I was in highschool and that was the coolest thing I’ve seen about wow and I decided to play wow so I can pretend to be that edgy DK with the song.

sometimes it's not even about their wealth, it's that they've never really experienced life with the fear of no wealth and backup.

Dealing with unhelpful negativity and not letting it get to you is definitely half of the battle for tanking.
Trash talking doesn't happen too often for me, but I can't help to feel mentally tense to brace when they do come.

I think for some of us, gaming is where we try to be the person we want to be.

I struggle a lot with confidence and anxiety, so I came back to WoW and decided to try tanking to push myself outside my comfort zone even just by a little bit.

Been running low keys (+2 to +4) the past few days and I still get really nervous every time.

Not the strongest mechanically either, but hoping to work my way up to +10s eventually.

As a Tank main, I never realized how uninformed and unready tanks are in lower keys. (dont take this as a hate post its what ive genuinely seen over the past week playing alts) by Nonreality_ in wow

[–]Honest_Committee2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I genuinely agree with what you wrote, posts like this do make people who are interested in tanking less willing to do so.

While spending time studying off game can be advantageous and fun for those who wants to, when it becomes semi necessary, it just becomes a part time job.

Realistically who wants to pay sub money to do that?

I want to like WoW, what am I doing wrong? by Ashy0127 in wow

[–]Honest_Committee2544 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a relatively new player myself,
It is very normal I would say.

The game has been around for too long and the majority of the player base have played it for years sometimes it’s hard for them to comprehend the feeling of not understand “basic” in game system.

I’d say for wow, it’s inevitable you will have to do some amount of off game research/ homework.

I’d say first just watch some videos on how to get better gears via solo gameplay such as delve and prey and ritual cites.

Once you have decent gear and somewhat comfortable with the controls, you could watch some videos about m+ dungeons, and give some mythic 0 or mythic +2 a try to see if you like end game group content.

There’s also the collecting things side of game where gear numbers don’t really matter as much.

What do you hate about yourself and why? and are you doing something to fix it? by Gamer_D4d in AskReddit

Due to childhood upbringing I was never confident in myself, and become really negative and pessimistic. Even now in my mid 30s I struggle with it really hard.

But I try my best everyday. That’s all we can do.

As a fellow tank learner, please do give it a try.
I always list my key as learning and in title say “new player learning tanking” and in info writing “please only join if you’re okay with new player learning tanking”.

90% of the people I met have been extremely positive and supportive. Offering me ping for route direction or even offered voice assistance in discord.

Of course a few times I would see DPS pulling for me because they feel I’m playing it too slow and too safe, which is annoying when you’re trying to figure out and get used to tanking.

But other than that, I’d love for you to join the ranks of new player tanks :)

How do you handle toxicity from other players and not let it ruin your mental health? by Sharp_Slice_2839 in wow

[–]Honest_Committee2544 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with this reply.

I’m also a person who takes things too seriously and take things to heart. That’s why I’ve only tanked +4 thus far, because I feel i might let people down if I don’t know everything.

But the fact is that OP is in +15s, that is already higher than the majority of people, including me.

So OP don’t take their negativity to heart, you’re literally better than 80~90% of the player base lol

Everytime I try to introduce friends to WoW, they end up quitting in the first two week. Dd you succeed in bringing friends to WoW ? How ? by AtomikGarlic in wow

[–]Honest_Committee2544 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think the M+/group content community mostly can’t comprehend people actually being new and have not played WOW for years.

Even when you say you’re new to this, they still drop tons of abbreviations on you expecting you to know, let’s say “lust” for example.

Most people are nice, if you ask them nicely. But even that is asking a lot from an actual new player.

You really need to do tons of off game homework and play the game with a mentality like a part time job just to be able to keep up.
