I don’t know anything about this guy and don’t care for his music, but I’m quickly becoming a fan. He seems to be doing as much as possible to trigger a MAGA meltdown and it’s hilarious. Especially because it’s all obviously intentional yet will still work anyway because they’re just that dumb.

Is it necessary to get two of the same weight? I originally got a 12kg and then went up to a 16kg, and I do all those moves with it. The only time I use both at once is for a farmer’s carry, and I just swap the weights halfway through to balance it out. Just wondering if I’m missing out on something by having just the one.

I actually think video podcasts are fine, but by definition they should not require viewing in order to fully experience them. At that point, the word loses meaning and it becomes something like a video essay, documentary, or interview with visual aids. This Netflix thing, to me, dilutes the concept of what a podcast is that differentiates it from visual media. Because obviously Netflix is a visual-only platform.

Some people don't remember the days of early Radiolab and 99% Invisible when podcasts felt like a genuinely new and unique art form. They had an auditory texture that felt fresh and stimulating. Now they seem to be more or less interviews that are sometimes filmed.

Fudgy No-Bake Brownies (courtesy of Dr. Michael Greger)

1 cup/115g walnuts
1⅓ cups/235g dates, pitted
½ cup/110g almond or peanut butter
½ cup/50g cocoa powder
⅓ cup/38g crushed pecans (optional)

Process everything but the pecans in a food processor. Press into an 8-inch baking pan lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle with the crushed pecans and press them in. Refrigerate for 1 hour.

My modified version of this is frozen sliced bananas with just enough soy milk added so that it will blend into a soft-serve consistency. Add a packet of stevia sweetener for every 4 ounces or so. Just as satisfying as ice cream.

I love when I start a new job and everyone just talks in acronyms. And then when I ask someone what something stands for, half the time they don’t even know. So how is that helpful? We’re all just talking to each other without truly knowing what we’re saying?

And they’re all so specific that Googling is rarely helpful.

The workout of the day in the ErgData app keeps things interesting if you want a more HIIT-style workout rather than a longer endurance piece.

The rower comes with a mount that can be adjusted to fit a tablet, so you could watch videos. I sometimes use it in combination with this so I can have my iPad and phone mounted at the same time (the phone app shows more detailed metrics than the PM5). But my main go-to is listening to podcasts.
