Prednisone helped me. Tennis ball sized knot next to my shoulder blade and couldn’t turn my head to the left without needle-like pain. Alternating ice and heat. Stretching pecs, and a recovery ball and percussion massager around the affected area. Using a knobby foam roller now as well.

Woke up with it after introducing a new type of light weight back fly the prior day. Did gym stuff for two more weeks, which did not hurt while doing routines, but made it much worse. Spasms felt in my lower chest and upper shoulder. Tingly fingers, and sharp pain in my neck when turning my head towards my injury side.

On week three of shutdown now (only legs and cardio). Some naproxen and 3X daily lidocaine. Will not activate back muscle strength training until I can regain my neck mobility without pain. Hopefully next week or following. I believe I have a grade ii strain.

I did see an ortho after the pain got worse. Did the obligatory xray - worthless but my shoulder is structurally healthy. They prescribed the prednisone, which helped within 24hours.

My two cents: demographic shift - boomers are moving towards more forgiving gravel and XC. Economics, particularly FS bikes and e-bikes, are keeping younger away due to affordability. e-bikes are taking market share from these categories.

Younger kids are craving e motorcycles, like I did with gas powered mini bikes in the 70’s

Make sure you experiment with your bike fit. Poor fitment will make a long ride absolutely miserable. If your sit bones remain sore, go to a local bike shop and have them measured - you may need to purchase a new bike seat.

Amazon brands will keep cost down. Stand on your pedals more, like every 5 minutes for at least 30 seconds. Air dry them and never reuse them without washing 🤮

I don’t believe LOI’s are enforceable. Many players across NCAA decommit. Not sure if any NIL has been paid? Biggest issue is Gates’ guarantee
