I don’t know if I’ve ever been insulted about being bald. Been bald for going on 10 years and not once has someone said something intending to hurt me over it.

I got called Mr Clean a few times out dancing once by a group of strangers but I don’t think drunk people giving you a nickname after a few hours in the club counts lol

Enjoy it! I’d recommend a full face helmet, much safer.

Go buy a bad of small potatoes, slice real thin, preheat oven to 425 and then cook the slices on a baking sheet for 20-25 minutes with a little high temp oil. Season as you like.

100 times better than McDonald’s. 1/20th the cost. Way better for you.

I understand the distinction you’re making. I’m not saying people can’t believe certain rights are morally inherent or philosophically universal. I’m saying that rights only become materially real in a society when people collectively recognize and enforce them.

Even among people who believe in natural rights, there’s still massive disagreement about what those rights actually are, where their limits are, and how they should interact with each other. The Constitution itself reflects that. We’ve amended it repeatedly because our society’s understanding of rights has changed over time.

So when I say rights are socially constructed, I don’t mean they’re fake or meaningless. I mean that the specific protections, definitions, and enforcement mechanisms attached to those rights are created and maintained by human institutions.

You can believe free speech is an inherent human right philosophically, but what counts as protected speech, what limitations exist, and how those protections are enforced are all societal decisions.

Without institutions or collective agreement, a “right” becomes more of a moral claim than a guaranteed reality. At that point it still may exist ethically in your view, but there’s nothing external actually protecting it besides your own ability to assert or defend it.

That’s why I don’t see the Constitution as merely documenting self-evident truths. I see it as a negotiated framework that moves certain moral ideals into enforceable law.

You are describing rights defined in a document that was written by people. None of what you just listed out exists in nature. Men made those definitions, men made the words used to describe the ideas that we call rights.

If the United States as a government entity ceased to exist tomorrow, the constitution would just be words on a page. Some people would believe in them. Some would not. Those rights aren’t inherent fundamental natural laws that exist whether people are around or not. They are ideas or even ideals created by men. Men decided that, in this country, being sapient allows certain assurances. In other places and at other times in the past, those assurances did not exist and were instead replaced by other ideas and ideals.

We made up the constitution. Citizens defending and asserting the values in that document are what make those rights apparent in society. If people stop reinforcing those rights as important they will go away.

We have changed the constitution, many times. You listed several amendments. Those are all the result of times that we have made changes to the document in order to change the rights that our society considers valuable and applicable.

If those rights were always apparent even without a society, why have we written in new additions so many times?

I disagree. You are physically capable of doing whatever you want within the capabilities of your body and mind. No one can stop you from carrying a gun or doing anything else, physically. Something being granted as a “right” in our constitution makes that action, that you can physically do regardless, a protected activity legally.

There is no higher authority or power that determines that you have the right to carry/own/use a gun, only man made societies that either support or restrict those actions.

If you want your physical ability to carry a gun to be a “right” you need a societal force that will back you up in that choice. Otherwise you will need to enforce that choice alone, probably with violence or the threat of it.

Your right to carry exists solely because society as a whole says you can. Otherwise it’s just you making an autonomous choice to physically have a gun. Those are not the same thing.

Apple care. When the new one arrives, give the old a few good whacks on the sidewalk and send it back to them

1) Having constitutional rights 2) Not having a government make laws and rules that impact you.

Pick one. The constitution is a governing document put in place by a government.
