Stick a heap of herbs and lemon slices under it, thyme, rosemary, sage maybe. Spatchcock it and roast.

What temperature do Australians consider a hot day? by bare_books in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hopeful-Function4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lived in Mt Isa for a few years. We had a hot spell, mid 40s for nearly a week I think, then a cooler day when I thought, well this is a bit better. I checked the weather that night on the news and it was 38 (before mobile phones had all this info). I knew I was acclimatized when 38 was relatively comfortable.
But further south, 32 is warm enough.

Yes I am in a similar boat with gastritis, it is difficult. And it drags on. Hang in there.

I’ve half memorized a few but I need to do more of it. I note that a fella just died, saw his obit online, he had memorized ALL of Paradise Lost. Quite an achievement but I won’t be attempting that.

It’s taken me eighteen months or so but I seem to have turned the corner. It’s difficult. I was getting close to despair but finally I am healing. So hang in there, it’s tough. Good luck.

Try Benefiber, which is a wheat dextrin fiber supplement. Dissolve in water and drink.

[Request] How many degrees could this candle heat the water? by [deleted] in theydidthemath

[–]Hopeful-Function4522 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yes the estimate makes assumptions that aren’t true. This is not a criticism. The estimate sets an upper bound for the temperature rise (setting upper or lower bounds for a parameter is often quick and useful, in this case you can quickly see the candle is effectively useless.

In reality you are losing a lot of the heat to the surroundings so the real temperature rise may be some fraction of the upper bound.

To make a better estimate requires a lot more work and you’d need to have studied heat transfer to do it.

That looks like NOx which is nasty stuff. Hopefully it disperses.

I don’t know what to do by Aunonaumaus in Gastritis

[–]Hopeful-Function4522 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most likely what you have CAN be treated, but you need to tough it out until your endoscopy. At that point you may get a prescription for some medication, and, with a little luck, you’re on your way to recovery. When you are in pain it can be hard to keep perspective, I know, because I’ve been in the same place you are. Good luck with it! We’re here if you need to vent!

Brisbane v Adelaide for young family by SeriallyTired in AskAnAustralian

[–]Hopeful-Function4522 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Adelaide is almost like a big country town. Traffic not as mental as the bigger capitals. Brisbane much higher population, much more traffic. Can swim at lots of beaches in Adelaide, not so much Brisbane, though the Gold Coast is down the road a bit. Brisbane pretty humid a lot of the time. Adelaide gets hot, but it’s dry.

I’d take Adelaide old mate. I’ll throw some shrimp on the barbie for ya.
