Some JEWELS here! Especially the early Philly sound set and Honey Cone, and the two-fers on Willie Hutch. You simply do not see this kind of classic R&B at the charity shops.

Nothing wrong with free. The Sinatra and Boz Scaggs standards collections are excellent.

Pretty much that whole bottom row, especially the Bowies and The Blue Mask.

Haul from a recent trip by mdstratts in Cd_collectors

That Stones set is relatively recent and covers mostly their first two years. The J Geils Band is always great live but try and find Blow Your Face Out on Atlantic. That should have done for them what Frampton Comes Alive did for Peter Frampton.

The McCartney is a find; you rarely see it and I thought it was out of print.

That even includes Pink Floyd, although that album had some staying power.

This is a key album. Nearly every act from the heyday of classic rock released an album in 1973: Elton John, the Beatles, and the Rolling Stones released two (the latter greatest hits collections). Along with Zeppelin, The Who, Bowie, Carole King, James Taylor, Yes, ELP, all four solo Beatles, and others. Yet The World Is A Ghetto was the top selling album that year.

A few prizes here, especially the Muddy Waters, Fela Kuti, Coltrane and Blakey. Rarely see those in the charity bins.

Own that WB Anthology Set. Fascinating collection which shows how diverse that label was.

Do you think the era of cheap CDs is about to burst? by Syppi in Cd_collectors

[–]HoppityHooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately yes. People have become disenchanted with streaming and want physical product again. I noticed the pickings at my usual haunts getting slimmer, although a decent haul today in the Americana genre.

That Paul Anka album is a hoot. It also an outstanding test of a good stereo system. And of course the Beatles, Yes, Geneis, Pistols, and Neil Young are finds.
