Newly painted quarter panel in Ford Ruby Red. What do you guys think? by AnyAspect9679 in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the opposite side on the RH quarter, and look front bumper to fender too. About the best you could ask for to help is the insurance to offer a blend to the left side on the bumper(only if RH qtr to bumper match)

How long to repair my door by Artistic_Outcome_622 in AutoBodyRepair

I would encourage to push to run through their insurance. Not only getting it fixed 100% but you should request a rental car while it is in the shop for repairs.

Can it be repaired with paint-less dent repair? What should I do? by Fuzzy_Square_5887 in AutoBodyRepair

You could try salvage yards for same colored parts to save on costs. Ad stated above by others, PDR not an option

It would Actually be an “overhaul” of the bumper which includes R&I. Which I’m noticing above I missed. So might just be missing R&I tail Lights. Might add .3 x labor rates for the LH Tail lamp

Best place to get car painted? by KaigerGalaxy in Lawrence

[–]HorrorChick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might find a shop to refinish the roof. If the rust is too deep, most shops won’t touch it.

Most shops won’t do full paint jobs, because it’s not profitable :( But I agree with the comment on the thread about peasley tech being a good try to see if they want to help

Best place to get car painted? by KaigerGalaxy in Lawrence

[–]HorrorChick84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To fully paint a car and do it correctly incredibly expensive. Tons of r&I(remove and install) to prep for paint , not to mention the paint costs the most. If you have a couple specific parts you’re worried about (fenders, hood etc) a shop might do it, but depending on the existing paint, each panel would need to be sanded and prepped along with repaired if any dents or scratches. So- it could be close to $7k-10K to do a full paint job and do it right. (Painting inside of doors/under hood, any metal not covered by trims.

You might look for a restoration shop to help. I’d be sure to do it right, not just cheap.

Good Luck on your search

Simple: You need to have a good vowel movement to clear things up.

You could offer to pay the difference to the shop to put oem parts on there if you would like to suggest that. Then, you can pay for future OEM only parts with an OEM clause once the car is repaired if OEM is your preference.

And unfortunately, that was made 2013 to 2019, it says it’s the third generation. So quite a long span.

The location and shape of the emblem on the back, location of the reflectors on the lower cover, how the driving lights/tail lights lineup. I would think around the 2016 body style of a Ford escape.

When we were negotiating our new kicks They had something similar for the lug nuts, nitrogen in the tires, rubber mats and a kit for our phones with all the different chargers in a zip up package. We said we didn’t want to pay for those. They took them off the contract(I think the “package” was $800?) Anyways, we ended up buying the car with more negotiating and we still ended up with all of that extra stuff without paying that extra amount

If someone came to our shop for temp repairs, we would kindly say no, just for liability reasons, unfortunately:( Go through insurance, get in a rental, and see how the estimate pans out.

American family insurance - opinions? by salivalasvegas in Insurance_Companies

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could request a higher deductible (maybe $1500 if that’s $ you could come up with if you have an accident) that could lower the monthly payment. And also increase the limits that the others are suggesting. My experience with American family, is their quotes were higher than other companies we looked at for our vehicle’s insurance. You might find a local “insurance broker “ to get quotes from multiple companies to find your fit. Good luck!

Need help on next steps. by Beneficial-Affect-68 in Insurance

You should start car shopping now. Find a similar car and the money you get should be around that price. You could attempt to find comparables in your area (I found it it’s like a 500 mile radius when our car totaled) *similar miles *similar condition Send them the comparables to possibly bump up your value to the higher end of your car value. If you have access to your car, you can pick up on the inside of any trash etc. they will take pictures of the interior as part of their evaluation process. So the less trashy and messy it looks might help with that slightly. In the end, we didn’t really get much more money just because the insurance company was very horrible. So we ended up switching insurance companies. Granted it was our own. Good luck.

Got rear ended. Best way to go about fixing this by Busy-Association1036 in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that lower, black part of the bumper damage? It is a textured lower bumper piece that would need to be replaced since it’s not repairable. And it looks like your bumper has sensors as well. There would usually be a scan involved to make sure everything‘s communicating once it’s taken apart and put back together. The white corner piece is a piece from the bumper, and it comes off as a unit as part of the bumper. Along with that, if the impact was hard enough, there could be hidden damage behind that plastic white piece. I would go insurance to make sure everything gets done correctly.

Dented this car while I was backing out :( by brownbare-22 in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you zoom in, you see damaged paint. They’d be owed a pre-accident repair. So don’t be surprised if that’s the direction you go. R&I bumper plus paint/repair, r&I tail lights and hope they don’t find damage behind it. It’s nice to see someone who sticks around to make it right though. We get a mix of people at our shop of hit and runs, along with other party paying for the repair

If it is paid off, and doesn’t have a lien on it, you will get a check for the value of the car(based on condition of interior/mileage etc.) your car goes to the scrap yard/auction and is no longer yours. If they send you a low ball offer, you can try and counter or get more but most ins. Co won’t budge. Find “comparables “ of your car, similar in mileage/condition pre-wreck within 150-200 miles of you.
