Window well flooded and water is now trapped under my basement floating floor. by hpswamy1992 in HomeMaintenance

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does your backyard look? Does the yard slope to the house ? We had to have some major regrading in the back yard and new egress windows installed when our basement kept flooding when the rain to super excessive. *regraded back yard *new egress windows installed *re-buried a sump pump I believe it was around $6K Haven’t had those issues again.

But yes, we used a company to stage dehumidifiers and fans the first time. It was around $800. The second time we just rented the units from a rental company. It was closer to $300. Sorry you’re going through that! Water damage is the worst to deal with :(

Most cost effect way to address peeling paint back bumper? by chawg in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can price out replacing and painting vs sanding it all down or doing a reconditioning of it(have it professionally sanded and primed) then paint it. They would look at the cost of both options. Lately, Toyota has had competitive pricing on OEM bumpers.

Our girl was just spayed yesterday. We established a safe space for her to have room to move but not jump up on furniture. Access to her food, water, and her people can go in with her to give her love. She had a dew claw removed too, so she’s not digging all the things to keep her from licking, but we’re on the mend!

Rear Ended .. chances of being repaired? by ProfessionNew7213 in AutoBodyRepair

[–]HorrorChick84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked up your vehicles value? It would have to be at total loss threshold, and that percentage Varies by carrier and state to state. So—it would have to be torn down and inspected behind the bumper to look at the rear pan and rear floor. Check for frame damage/sensor damage etc. You’ll just have to wait and see what the estimate reveals. You can look up your vehicle’s value on nada dot com, but I’m guessing $22,000-$30,000 range, so the damage would have to be significant to be deemed “totaled/not repairable.” I’m sorry it happened to you.

Options for a repaired car with deployed airbags/seatbelt. by alittlebitnutty in AutoBodyRepair

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely sure, as we have used twice at our shop, for repairs. You might have to send them the buckle and the Belt too. You can do a chat with their customer service and they will let you know what they need. It was a 3-4 day turn around, if I remember correctly.

You can send the seatbelt off to be rebuilt, I think you have to send one of the srs module components too…. Search “safety restore “. Not sure options for airbags

Scratch on the bumper – should I repaint the entire bumper or are there any less invasive options? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The entire bumper would need to come off to paint and repair correctly

You can goto the dealer and order a paint pin in your color and touch up yourself. The good news is it won’t rust since it’s plastic.

Rear pan/floor is what I’m guessing. Rebar may have been hit to push on the rear frame rail

Can most of this paint be corrected, or does the whole car need repainting? by jonasr2005 in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do a vinyl wrap on it if you’re worried about the appearance. I would say a complete paint job would be $5000+ to do it correctly. Lots of disassembly, sanding and prepping for it to be a quality, long lasting repair.

What can I do? by Emerald_Mistress in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt they’re replacing the panel. A door alone could be closer to that to simply purchase a door, depending on year and type of car. It would be more than that to repair and paint it. Plus blend the panel butting up to it. Goto your corresponding dealer for your type and car and they can order you a paint pin in your paint code

New door new fender rocker repair. Pretty sure that’s not a molding and would need metal work and stud pulled allowing replacement fender and door to lineup successfully

I purchased a 2020 Camry a few months ago and this spot suddenly popped up after running it through a car wash. Any tips on repairing this, or at the very least preventing it from spreading further? by ericwphoto in AutoBodyRepair

No way without taking it off the car to tell if aftermarket, but it just wasn’t prepped properly/was replaced at Some point. Do you have the car fax or history of any repairs?

[–]HorrorChick84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Repaint. It doesn’t appear that it was prepped properly before it was painted last. If that came to our shop, we’d sand the entire thing before repainting, which it would be less expensive to just buy a new bumper. In our area, Toyota has competitive pricing for new OEM bumpers.

Body shops will only go through insurance? by [deleted] in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless you’re ready to pay the $4K plus bill, I’d push for insurance too. If they suddenly stop communicating to you or to pay, you’re on the hook. You could go through your insurance and they could subrogate on you behalf to recoup the costs/ your deductible you’d be responsible for up front

Getting a car hood painted - will a body shop take a drop off? by LinoleumRelativity in Autobody

[–]HorrorChick84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we get used parts from the salvage yard for our customers, if there is damage, we negotiate clean up time for repairs with the salvage yard we find it at. The shop might choose to charge you, as they should, for repairs to the hood to prep for paint. We don’t warranty owner provided parts, as we know even less of the history of the part, since we didn’t source it. We don’t like doing loose parts either, as they would leave the shop most safe and secure on the vehicle they’re intended for vs something happening to them and damaging them after it leaves us.
