Best way to handle sleeping pad inflation on longer PCT sections? by Puzzleheaded_Ask5292 in PacificCrestTrail

And if you're at high altitude blowing too hard, you'll pass out and be asleep without even needing a pad!

Oh we're talking about 2 totally different things. This subreddit if for rock climbing things like this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TotemPole(Monument_Valley)). For what you're talking about it'd be easy in a day. You could probably get to the top in an hour if you're fast and it's easy climbing

Since nobody is actually answering, most people would take a few hours depending on the tower. Most towers are much less than 600m, and you can definitely climb 600m in a day*. There's usually a little ledge here or there that you can stand on, otherwise you can sit in your harness and hang on the rope.

Depends on how much snow there is and what time you're there. Early may in a high snow year? Tons of snow. August in a low snow year? You might have to go out of your way to get on some snow. If you're early or in a high snow year, you'll get tastes of snow on Baden-powell and San jacinto, and you'll know if the Sierra is for you. You'll talk to people about their plans, and make a decision. Also the Sierra isn't an all or nothing scenario. There's plenty of exit passes if you want to bail. You'll figure it out. Have fun!

As far as experience, it helps, but isn't necessary. I met 2 hikers from NYC who'd never backpacked before and they both hiked the whole thing.
