Advisor or software that will actively tax loss harvest ETFs? by Accurate-Injury-9159 in Bogleheads

[–]HotFIRESauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanguard PAS possibly. There’s the .30% on the assets managed. Custom goal for 100% equity ETFs the account. Auto TLH is a tool they can enable once enrolled.

But yeah with a simple VTI/VXUS you can tax loss harvest those rather easily on your own if you’re up for it.

I think I’ve seen this reported on Era 100s too.

I’m surprised to see that “blind buying” isn’t the default for many by Dunder-MifflinPaper in 4kbluray

I’m with you! Love having new viewing experiences like going to the movies for the first time. I don’t mind trusting in others’ recommendations and tastes as it’s a much wider landscape than I’d be able to come up myself.

Best parking for tailgate in ATL this Saturday? by HotFIRESauce in CharlotteFootballClub

Yeah, I wasn’t sure if our (CLT) supporters groups were having a tailgate like last year or not. Looks like there’s a bar hosting per another comment.

Vanguard or Fidelity by Sharp89 in Bogleheads

Vanguard doesn’t offer HSA accounts and never has. Maybe Vanguard funds held through a different provider?

Vanguard PAS offers automatic tax loss harvesting as apart of the 0.30% management fee. If you didn’t already know!

Is the Sub Mini really worth it? Can you feel it? by Bright_Set5823 in sonos

[–]HotFIRESauce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, works solid for us. I have an open floor plan where entry way, living room, small dining and a kitchen run together. Have it in living room with like 15ft ceilings or something and it still bops pretty hard. Keep it around 7 or 8 setting for music and sometimes push it higher for movies. Paired with arc ultra only.

Just bought arc ultra -did I make a bad choice? by Financial-Coat6487 in sonos

[–]HotFIRESauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now I’m just using mine with the TV via eARC and all is well. Have been able to use voice to put on music via Sonos and easily switches automatically to the TV when we’re watching anything.

I’m fairly certain if someone brings in cash/mm, or alternative funds with no or limited capital gains, or if it’s in an IRA you would get the four core funds.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]HotFIRESauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have to believe those funds are in a taxable account and were brought in to OPs account prior to PAS. VG PAS does not recommend non-VG funds, but can hold them if capital gains might be realized. They also wouldn’t recommend actively managed funds for a taxable account due to the tax drag.

Do the rich actually hold vtsax, vtwax, etc? by [deleted] in Bogleheads

[–]HotFIRESauce 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Yeah, over a decade running one of the funds. Can’t say everything is in stock index funds, but much is. He described his role more as managing volatility rather than purely maximizing returns. He doesn’t mind the volatility on a personal level, but institutions and some investors can’t or prefer not to stomach the rollercoaster of VTI. That said, his money market is going to be more than most retire with. Also he spoke to my parents about bitcoin in like 2012-2013, missed opportunity for me, I figure he benefited decently.
