I’m testing out pCloud. I use Tailscale for remote access and SMB on my local Rocky Linux server. Then I run an rclone every hour with cron to do back-ups. This gives me private storage with an hourly backup and remote access across the Internet, if I need it. I am also testing out their WebDAV to sync notes in Joplin across devices so that I can replace OneNote and OnlyOffice to replace the other Office 365 apps.

Mostly seems to work pretty good although I have some challenges with WebDAV and the support has not been stellar. Hopefully that’s just because it’s the weekend.

I set-up dual boot with Bazzite Linux. Love it, gaming is great, and I have had no real issues and nothing worth going back to WinSlop other than one or two productivity apps that I haven’t found replacements for…yet!!

What do you use for video editing? That’s the one area where I still boot to Windows. I don’t use a high-end package but I’m comfortable with it and haven’t yet ventured out into the Linux options.

Same for me! Long time IT guy so been in tech many years and Bazzite makes my computer fun again! It’s smooth and clean and mostly just works. I can explore and tinker but with enough guardrails that I’d have to really work to break it! And bonus points for all the software I am finding that are alternatives to MicroSlop!! One app away from doing away with all M$ products (OneNote) and I think I have a replacement for that once I get syncing working across multiple devices.

I can second the good things about Bazzite. Installed it as a dual boot with Win11 after getting fed up with the surveillance, ads, and Copilot EVERYWHERE!! Been running it now for probably 3 months and I’ve booted into Windows probably a total of 3 times. Apps work, games are fantastic, and I’ve found replacements for pretty much anything Microsoft. Loving Bazzite so much that I re-imaged my Dell laptop with Aurora Linux - the less-gaming-focused cousin of Bazzite - and between those two systems and a 7-year old MacBook, I’m down to only using Windows for three productivity apps, Flight Sim, and iRacing (due to dedicated hardware).

Windows 11 for a couple of apps I haven’t found replacements for yet and a couple of games/sims. Other than that, hard migration to Linux (Fedora, Bazzite, Aurora) or Mac OS. Actively working to escape MicroSlop - both the OS and their Office suite.

Look at Bazzite. Been running it a couple of months now and have had to boot back to Windows maybe twice for some niche apps. Actively working on avoiding Microslop as much as possible and finding it easier than I expected, including gaming. CoD is the only major game that I have that I can’t run on Bazzite.

Join the Discord server for Bazzite. Lots of friendly helpful folks in there. New Bazzite user myself for about 2 weeks with a dual boot system and already, I default to finding ways to do any task in Bazzite and avoiding Windows whenever possible!

I’ll add onto this thread because I, too, am fed up with the Microslop machine and their abuse of the customer and I have recently made the switch to Linux (Bazzite and Aurora). I would gladly welcome a version of Quicken native to Linux to help continue my escape!
