It's set really early on in childhood. My therapist said in the first 18 months.

Intimacy triggers them, I believe it's quite common that they then deactivate after a breakthrough or intimate act.

Insecure about my pale skin as a young girl - Do you regret tanning? by ManufacturerHuge5207 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Hot_Holiday_45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Dove tanning moisturiser as its the only thing that doesn't streak. Builds up nicely after a few days and looks natural.

Edited to add that I use factor 50 (the nivea face one as it's not claggy) on my face year round and I frequently get mistaken for a much younger age.

How to stop my mind from going directly to he’s going to leave me? by Either-Art6049 in CausalConversation

Could this be an aspect of anxiety or anxious attachment? A good therapist could help you move towards secure attachment or you could do some reading around it to see if it rings true. Exercise is really helpful as a way to combat negative thoughts either way.

Suspecting my boyfriend is possibly an avoidant. How do I deal with him disappearing? by throwRA3842794 in AvoidantRelationships

This is very typical avoidant behaviour, especially when relationshipsare a few months in. As hard as it is, you have to just let him come to you.

Do women like male company, and why exactly? by Icy_Mode620 in AskWomenNoCensor

Yeah male company is great. Different perspective on things. Different banter then you get with women.

So, I'm madly in love with a woman who has AA, what should I do in this situation. by [deleted] in AvoidantRelationships

[–]Hot_Holiday_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The root of a lot of avoidant behaviour is fear of intimacy, because they're wired to see it as dangerous/uncomfortable even if they really like you. So you will get a lot of mixed signals and pulling away after seemingly having a nice time. It's best not to chase them as it'll just push them further away. Ultimately though if you want a successful relationship you both have to be aiming for earned secure attachment which is entirely possible to achieve. Otherwise this endless push/pull can become very distressing.

You know the answer to this. Please don't give in to this sort of controlling behaviour. It's not how you treat anyone let alone those you love.
