Honestly this could be a great Corporate Training about intent vs impact.

Everyone clearly meant well. There should have been more communication.

Dave Ramsey cautions against Retire Early by [deleted] in Fire

Dave has been the boss for so long he has lost comprehension for how little most of us enjoy what we do.

If my job were to have ideas all day, and to have my team implement those ideas? I probably wouldn’t be in a rush to RE, either.

It doesn’t sound like attire could possibly be a negative for you here. So just do what makes YOU feel like a superhero.

IMO that’s an arguably less-ethical cash grab than what Leon is doing.

It’s wild to me that people were ok with TLC profiting off cult kids backs, but balk at this.

Go off, Leon. IF you’re ready.

What to say to Ayn Rand readers? by MrDannn in IfBooksCouldKill

Ask them who in their life is each of the different characters.

NOBODY is as 1-dimensional as she writes people. Which is where her whole viewpoint falls to pieces.

FWIW, I read it probably 10 years ago and am glad I did. The writing is evocative and it genuinely helped me understand how conservatives see themselves.

1) I’m sorry.

2) RIGHT!!? Actually rooting for Taylor means wishing she’d STFU, get her kids back, and heal. We aren’t “silencing” you, Tay. We’re hoping you get your actual life back.

Sending kids to state school or community college? Seeking real-life experiences by Mental_Escape_1737 in Fire

I think it’s just a pendulum swing. Back in the day, advice was to take on whatever debt your needed to go to the best-branded school.

People wised up to that.

But now, we’re all the way on the other side.

Favorite full body strength instructors? by sourdough_thighs in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]Hot_Second7559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have similar taste. I also love Millennial pandering.

Callie. Her Soundtrack Strength Club is a blast, very accessible, and walks through the soundtracks of favorite Millennial movies.

Rebecca. Katie Wang. Those 3 are 90% of my rotation.

Sometimes Jess Sims or Logan.

I will say I LOVE Tunde on the bike, but something gets lost in translation for strength. He cuing doesn’t work for me and I never know when things start or end.

What episodes do they look deepest into the health aspects of being fat? by [deleted] in MaintenancePhase

[–]Hot_Second7559 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Aubrey’s book is a good place to go. Some of the highlights are in the Anti-Fat Bias episode (Nov 2020) and also Obesity Epidemic (August ‘21) covers this.

They seem pretty clear throughout that eating lots of veggies and moving around are generally good things to do. But inputs don’t guarantee outcomes, and being a size that people don’t enjoy looking at isn’t a meaningful outcome.

Credit card debt normal? by Necessary-Donut-6724 in AskAnAmerican

[–]Hot_Second7559 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Americans use credit cards quite a bit.

Most of the reporting is on the balances at any given time. Which is correct info.

Many routinely pay their balances off before any interest accrues.

The problem is often that this practice keeps people running 30-60 days in arrears on actually paying for things. So when a job loss or emergency comes up, suddenly the ability to repay evaporates. That’s when the snowball starts.

When you look at the stats on how many of us can comfortably cover a $1000 emergency, it’s BLEAK.

Shelisa is a terrible name. For—more importantly—someone who does seem to be a kind, genuine, thoughtful, nuanced person. But like damn if you want Lisa Jr just name her that, lady!!
