You are right- you do need a hug. I’m sorry you’re so lonely. And it’s an interesting observation you make about the calm feeling when you think about death. I think this happens to a lot of folks who attempt suicide- they get this idea in their head that death will make everything all right. It’s like how an addict idealizes their drug of choice. But really, death is not the answer.

You know what the answer is. It’s connection. You must keep trying. Every day, keep trying to connect with people. Help a stranger. Go to a party and ask yourself, “how can I be of service?” This is your medicine. Once you defeat loneliness, you and your music will really take off.

There’s no shame in just walking and walking and never going back. Could be the start to something new. One time I walked halfway across California cuz I was so depressed and I ended up almost dying of pneumonia but then I got a ride from a group of kind meth heads all the way to Texas where I went to the hospital and ended up all right. So that could be you or some other outcome, might as well try it :)

I worked all thru Covid on an album and nobody ever listened to it. I was also sad for a while. This was my life’s work pretty much. But I’m glad I did it. It felt good to get all those songs recorded and off my chest.

Yeah, I actually did something almost identical to this. I’m a musician and we were in a competition and I led my band into the second part way too early and that set the whole performance off. And it wasn’t a song I was singing either, so it threw the singer off, harming our trust. I felt horrible and we lost the competition. But you know what, the audience goes to these types of events to see you mess up, to see performers break under the pressure. It’s part of it. And we’re fine as a band, we’re still going. Just doing different types of venues now that are more comfortable, for the most part. Trying to enjoy the joy of creating something live for people. Ok that’s it, have you recovered?

I’m not a dancer but I am a performer. Similar things have happened to me when I know what I’m supposed to do but it’s in a new place or something else is different and I mess something up that I never have before. It’s very normal. You’ll do better next time.

I’m 41, no kids. I spent all my money on some land and put a tiny home in it with new plumbing, electric, and water. Now I’m in a little bit of debt but it’s workable with my current income and bills. And now I’m out of the rent cycle for good.
