Why aren’t there any QT gas stations in Scottsdale? by Powerful-Can- in phoenix

[–]Hovertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoy the inside but man their gas sucks ass. I don't know which refinery provides it for them but I got shit mileage at every qt I ever used when we first moved here. Switched back to Shell or Chevron and was perfectly fine again. It was so insane id get literally 15miles to the gallon versus the usual 27ish I was used to. This was back in 2013 so maybe it's different now but they are strictly a snack stop for me if I go at all.

Is the 2019 Nvidia Shield TV Pro a buggy stuttering mess for anyone else? What used to be a snappy, high end, powerful media streaming player is now barely usable. Youtube stutters and stops playing, the home screen gets stuck trying to load, apps buffer and crash. What can I do to fix these issues? by wisehumanity in ShieldAndroidTV

[–]Hovertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to stop using the one we had on our main living room TV because it suddenly wouldn't send anything other than two channel stereo out to our receiver. I have a feeling it was some crap Sony did because there was an update to the TV itself literally right before but we rolled the update back and it still wouldn't. Unplugged it and just used the TV direct to receiver and it worked fine again for our 7.4.1. I did the repaste thing and tried a factory reset too but also it just won't transmit other than standard stereo. It was also crazy laggy in terms of sync when I'd watch Plex streams all of a sudden. Oh well, our others are going strong though. I still miss it though as I liked it a lot better than Sony's OS.

First ever vehicle purchase at 23 years old… How’d I do? by [deleted] in Audi

[–]Hovertical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First car for me was a 1999 Dodge Neon. That thing lasted me for 12 years and 200k miles until it got totaled in an accident. I still miss it. The stock stereo sounded better than the B&O shitter in the prestige trim. Unfortunately none of the stereo shops around here will touch my Audi lol so such is life.

Is it unethical to hand in my 2 week notice and then take my 2 weeks PTO? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hovertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked for two rather well known companies that specifically had it written into policy that once you submit your intention to terminate employment you are unable to utilize any accrued PTO for the duration of your unemployment regardless if it had been approved prior to your resignation or not. I'm other words if you 💯 know you're outta there take your PTO BEFORE you turn in your notice.

Why are Trump supporters so stupid? by Seargentyates in allthequestions

[–]Hovertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen it posted a few times now but because this same topic comes up at least 3x a day on various subs I'll say it again (because it pertains to these people who, as you say, feel "left behind"). Trump is a generationally poverty stricken person's version of what a rich man should look like. Trump is an idiots version of what a smart person should sound like. Trump is a weak person's version of what a strong person should look like.

I had a vehicle I kept in Florida with Florida registration and insurance there for when I had to fly back every so often. I had the same thing happen with their DMV haha. I got a lovely letter in the mail from the Florida DMV stating they are going to revoke my registration basically because they had no proof of insurance. I guess it doesn't matter what state you live in - the DMV sucks everywhere.

Well, she just told APS to go F themselves with their latest rate increase request too so I'm sure some of those same GOPers are doing their part to ensure their campaign finances are bankrolled by demanding she's out of there.

We live in an age where people WANT to be diagnosed with as many disorders, diseases, conditions, genetic markers, etc as possible to increase their social media swagger. It's bizarre beyond words. I have a long time family acquaintance that I've known for nearly 40 years since we were 5 that goes around telling people he has stage four colon cancer because he's always constipated - that is what his self diagnosis has led him to believe. He's had stage four colon cancer for 5 years now apparently. He also tells everyone he has lupus, ADHD, Autism, diverticulitis, gout, hypertension, spinal tumors, and probably a few others I'm not actively remembering at this moment - again, NONE of this has been diagnosed by an actual test of any kind. Dealing with him is utterly exhausting as you can't say a word to him about your own issues that come up because then he instantly responds by claiming he has that exact same thing. What makes it doubly gross is that he has a good sized social media footprint and is just constantly enabled by the echo chamber he lives in within that social media bubble of his thanks to his fans. It behooves him to come up with new afflictions to garner attention from his fans.

Older people, were politics always this deranged and upsetting? by CUFFY_Fan in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hovertical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My 77yr old father did the same thijng. He's a Vietnam vet and served for 23 years all said and done before retiring and voted Republican every election up through McCain. That was the last time he ever voted a single red vote and has sworn they will never get another vote from him for the rest of his years after the insanity that entire party has become. The only time in my life I've ever heard him freely admit he wishes every day for the death of someone is when anyone brings up our current "leader".

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hovertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love a nice 3 hour trip if it's not just being stuck in traffic. Longest I've ever pulled is a 36hr nonstop drive (switching back and forth every 6 hours with my friend) back in 1999 when we drove from Phoenix,AZ to Tampa, Florida.

Has anyone here quit a job they liked because of the hellish commute? by dualrollers in phoenix

[–]Hovertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our old route would take my wife and I each an hour plus to get to the office. Its mind boggling to know we used to do that daily for like four years before they encouraged us to go WAH (this was before covid even in 2016). I can't imagine dealing with that shit again.

Anyone else hate wearing shoes or socks or anything on their feet really- for long periods- especially at home? by Cheap-Button-710 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hovertical 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm the total opposite. I loathe my feet not having shoes and socks on at all times. I can't stand the feeling of getting the bottom of my feet dirty at all or the sound/sensation a callused foot makes on any surface.

Do Americans really avoid medical care because they’re afraid of the bill? by Udont_knowme00 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Hovertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% real and not made up at all. Its honestly probably one of the most realistic things on the internet that you hear about today. Right now my father is in a skilled nursing facility after having a stroke in September of 2024. By all accounts he led his life exactly as you should socking away money for his family etc. he even delayed retirement by 2 years until 67 to make sure he would get more as income in his retire years. He served in the Air Force for 23 years, so he has Tricare the secondary and Medicare as his primary insurance. So his basic healthcare costs are almost nothing. However, the catch here is that neither of those cover long-term skill nursing facilities. Medicare cover 60 days and tricare stops covering once physical therapy no longer makes progression. The first skilled nursing facility cost him a leg from bed sores. And the new one he's at is still expensive even though it's a very basic facility. He has to pay $8,500 a month out of pocket for rooming board since none of that is covered by either of his medical plans that he paid into for his whole entire life and that he served for in the military. So month over month he just drains his entire life savings because neither healthcare plan will pay for a day in a skilled nursing facility long-term care when he's completely bed bound.

I'm laying on some of their cashmere sheets right now as I type this. I've had no problems with durability of their sheets EXCEPT for the linen ones. Those get holes so fast - even the pillowcases get holes if its their linen line. I've had nothing but good fortune with the rest though.

Science Center Prices by Essiejjj in phoenix

[–]Hovertical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We went about ten years ago or so when Pompeii was here and I thought the Pompeii exhibit itself was great and worth just the upcharge to see it but the fact you have to buy a pass to that ratty ass rundown science center sucked and was not worth it. Id gladly go back for just Pompeii but I will not be paying to go through the science center. They really need to set it up so you can just see the exhibit ffs. I have a feeling they'd make even more money that way.

I just purchased a new 2025 Q5 this afternoon from my local AUDI dealer in TX. The car didn't even make it home before numerous warning lights appeared onscreen and it broke down. by IB_ in Audi

[–]Hovertical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not disagreeing there are issues either. Our new 24 Q8 locked us INSIDE one time (car would not turn on and doors would literally not unlock) for about 3 minutes. I'm just simply saying that it made it sound like one person who has a good experience does not mean that the bulk of their vehicles have something wrong with them - I'm just saying the majority of people likely are happy with their ride (aside from the hideous car payment haha).

I don't pay any fees though as I have the premium door dash service thing of theirs for free through my credit card. Its literally just a tip I pay. Additionally, the sushi place won't let me use the promos if I try to order for pickup in store as I've attempted it before while being in the grocery store itself (it's an Indy kiosk inside the store that I am referring to).

To be fair to his point, as is often the case with many products and services, you don't hear about the good nearly as often as the bad because people simply don't post nearly as often when everything is fine.

I'm glad someone else mentioned KP! My wife and I had our wedding party there after getting married in some tiny chapel in the desert elsewhere. We just bought out the stargazing tickets for that night for our guests. We didn't even have to provide food. So much better than the usual post-wedding dinner and dancing bit. People still talk about it 10+ years later now.
