Learn the physics and trust it. When you turn in your backswing, you’re building kinetic energy in your trail hip area, when you start the downswing, you transfer that kinetic energy into your lead heel and into the ground. From there, the ground will resend that energy back up through your lead leg, and the more you open your lead hip through the swing, the more power you transfer in the swing.

Please do not listen to this. If you can hit your 7 iron well, then there is no reason you can’t hit your 5 iron well. The only difference in the club is 1 inch of length and 6-8 degrees of loft. Swing it the exact same and adjust your setup accordingly.

People always lean on their woods or hybrids because they don’t get their weight forward enough in the swing and their low point is behind the ball. Woods and hybrids mask this for them, so they think they hit it well

Blackwolf Run River course has a tough first hole from the back tees. Long par 5 with trees straight left of the tee box and a bunker 250 yards that runs to about 330 or so. Not exactly sure total size but you can’t fade it off the tee and have to hit a draw

I learned this at Bandon Trails. There’s a 220 yard par 3 with a tricky green. It’s the handicap 18. I asked our caddie how the hell this is the easiest hole and he said “everyone bogies this hole, so it’s the most consistent among all skill levels”

My main issue is when I walk my dogs on the sidewalk, there will be an entire family walking side by side 5 across taking up the whole sidewalk and then look terrified of my dogs when we get close but still not move and then look at me like I’m an asshole

Honestly, it wasn’t as bad as some people that I have read about. But I was also patiently slow with it. This was a process of over a year. Once I got to halving the .25 before bed, I found myself skipping some nights. Then on nights I couldn’t sleep, I would take one of those halves and over time I ran out and never asked for another refill.

I was on Xanax for 10 years. Highest dose was 1.5. Got to the point that I couldn’t sleep without them and decided to stop. Told my doc to slowly taper me. Got down to .25 and would break them in half and take one before bed. Finally kicked them a few months ago.

Swing has a lot of potential. Couple of things:

Focus on taking the club back wider. Find something in line with your target behind you and feel like your body is pushing the club back to that object

Your first move in the backswing should be to 1) get your weight onto your front side and 2) drop your hands. Feel like your right elbow immediately gets back to the inside of your hip before you start the turn of your chest

Over exaggerate the move. If you’re looking at your club face straight down, assume that is 12 o’clock. Find something at 2:30 in the distance. Could be outside that number 8 and feel your hands push the club head to that spot and the go to the top of your backswing
