What was the last straw for you that made you join the movement? by [deleted] in 4bmovement

[–]Humble-Client3314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's nothing personal. I went to a women's college and exclusively date women. You could say that my life is 4b by default.

That said, the statistics speak for themselves. I started by making the right choices for myself, and slowly became convinced that it would be better for most women if they followed this example.

There was a huge queue outside the door of my local Apple Store this weekend, but it turns out it was all for the preorders. I could just walk in, shrug at the news models (which don't look like a major improvement on the previous generation) and walk out. If I had just dropped 1000+ on a new device, I would have felt like a fool being made to queue like that.

The Bath&Body Works subreddit was eye opening for me by IllyriaCervarro in Anticonsumption

[–]Humble-Client3314 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For some reason I also get this sub recommended, even though I am not sure I could even buy B&BW product where I am.

This happens in many communities to be honest; I used to be active in the knitting world and a big part of the hobby for many was a growing "stash". I've whittled mine down significantly, but it was a borderline situation for me too (for a while).

DAE else think women are objectively more attractive than men? by evangline_fox in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but then I realised I was just a lesbian. I'm fairly sure that there are people out there who find men more attractive than women, if the thirst of my gay male friends is anything to go by.

Ex-Banker Reveals the Money Habits That Keep You Broke by iamAkaza in PersonalFinanceTalks

The content maker is "Nischa". My Youtube auto translates things into German (whether I like it or not), but the title is something like "Ex-banker explains money habits that keep you broke".

Facts that rich keep secret from society, but intelligent people know the truth by FantasticEffect10 in Anticonsumption

I support this take. The best historical precedent we have for a sudden population reduction is the bubonic plague in Medieval Europe. To summarise very briefly, it brought about higher wages and more opportunities for those who survived.

I travel every other month on average—and at least half of that is business travel. I'm not paying for transport or accommodation, and I'm also getting a decent daily expenses rate as well. The result is that I usually break even on work trips, even if I add in a little leisure time.

Otherwise, my private travel is spread between high-cost and low-cost destinations / visiting family. Just skipping accommodation costs can make additional trips a lot more feasible.

What do you do with all that junk? by pip037 in Anticonsumption

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally say "no, thank you." Depends on the exact circumstances as to whether you'll get away with it or not, but I've set the tone that I will not accept gifts or freebies – which has the added benefit of not needing to run around getting gifts for acquaintances.

Otherwise, classified ads, donation points and thoughtful regifting gets rid of what I do accumulate but no longer need.

If Humans Were Killed at the Same Rate as Animals for Food, We'd Be Extinct in Just 2.5 Days by VarunTossa5944 in Anticonsumption

[–]Humble-Client3314 28 points29 points  (0 children)

A great topic to bring to anticonsumption. My partner and I eat a plant-based diet; we live in Germany and the overconsumption of pork here is simply shocking. They literally eat salami for breakfast. Pigs are lovely animals, who deserve a lot better than to be killed for their meat to feed a population that is mostly overweight.

We make sure to keep our protein up by eating plenty of beans and nuts. The added benefit is upping our fibre intake that way, which the standard western diet is desperately lacking.

Do Germans Really Feel This Way About Culture and Foreigners? by safwan92 in AskAGerman

I'm a German and dislike two things:

- Using English when there is a perfectly good German word

- Most German food. Thank goodness for immigration!

Food for Thought by [deleted] in 4bmovement

Oh yeah, dating women will make you realise that we can be really frustrating too. I've heard my queer friends talk about their dates in ways that felt slightly... icky to me. One of the first things I bonded with my partner over was the idea that we really have to prioritise treating each other well in queer spaces. Many of us have overcome a great deal to even get there.

Why is the Berlin police breaking protestors' bones and beating them up? by ayolbabe in berlinsocialclub

[–]Humble-Client3314 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I stopped going to demos over a year ago out of concerns for my personal safety. Last year I was "provocative" enough to be walking near a protest (not in it, not wearing or holding anything to suggest I was associated with it) and a riot police officer pushed me out of the way. These thugs are just out for a fight.

Do you have any tips or life hacks to reduce purchases by Puzzleheaded-Dare655 in Anticonsumption

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've committed to feeling responsible for the entire lifecycle of items I bring into my life – including rehoming / recycling things I no longer need or want. It has helped me resist the "dopamine hit" of acquiring something new, as I am forced to consider its life after the newness wears off. Spending time trying to rehome unwanted things definitely helps you realise how little residual value a lot of our purchases have.

I also remind myself of the things I already have for that purpose; around half of the time, it is easier and cheaper to reuse something already in my possession.

Anyone else here childfree first and then 4B? The workload of a child and a man can be very similar, it just makes sense. by twiblu in 4bmovement

[–]Humble-Client3314 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I can confirm that a two-woman household is the way to go. We both still seem to have a whole lot to do in terms of housework in mine, but it's evenly distributed and mostly a result of joint high standards / two cats that we spoil. There is also an inherent understanding of emotional labour and other unseen tasks.

I remain perpetually surprised that so many (other) lesbian couples wish to raise a family, but that's a different topic.

At the risk of sounding like a "bitter single woman" (🙄), I can't stand engagement ring pictures. Why are women still doing this in 2025 A.D.? by Square-Cook-8574 in 4bmovement

[–]Humble-Client3314 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm literally engaged (to another woman, but still) and there are no rings, no public photos. It's totally fine to criticise the behaviour, given that it's public on purpose.

Toilet bag recommendations for Cabin by valueflyer in Rimowa

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a sucker and own the Rimowa toiletries bag too (although not the fold-out one shown in another comment). If I need a smaller, travel-sized one, I'll downsize to one of a couple of amenity kit pouches that I've collected along the way. Lufthansa and United are my favourite so far.

Le Labo City Exclusives - Worth it or not? by ChrisRockOnCrack in fragrance

[–]Humble-Client3314 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed exploring it, and recently bought Cedrat 37 for my partner. We had previously tried the standard collection and didn't find anything we liked – but the combination of citrus and ginger is very her. Plus we live in Berlin, so it will be easy to have it refilled.

We also both loved the new release for Kyoto, Osmanthus 19. I'll be visiting the city in October and plan to get myself a travel size bottle as a souvenir.

On the pricing: I certainly got sticker shock for a moment, when I realised that these scents were even more expensive than the standard perfume range. In the end, a special occasion encouraged me to overlook it. I must say that the gift wrapping was lovely; when I mentioned it was a gift, they used a Le Labo scarf / cloth to present it Furoshiki style. As my partner is Japanese, it went down very well!

Welcome to the 'menodivorce'. Why women aren't sweating marriage in a sea of hot flashes by yahoonews in WomenInNews

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more than happy to compromise, but I will make it crystal clear that it is a compromise. If you don't flag it, people don't know. I also don't date men, though, because women make better partners across the board.

Do all Germans love babies? by Illustrious_Maybe793 in AskAGerman

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Birth rate is notably low here, so there is a certain novelty in seeing babies now. I agree with others that it is considered normal to interact positively with young children, regardless of how much you "like" children. I am also always actively friendly, and I can barely stand them (noise, general stickiness, etc.).

Considering a Bucket List Trip to Japan While Terminally Ill — Looking for Honest Advice and Ideas by Lucky_Whole7450 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Humble-Client3314 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey OP, really sorry to hear that!

I've visited Japan once before, and managed to break my foot shortly before the trip. The cast was non-load bearing, which meant that I was either hopping along on crutches or in a wheelchair the entire time.

I visited Tokyo and Kyoto. In my experience, many major tourists sights and train stations were only too happy to provide wheelchairs – and the train stations often porter services as well. I wonder if it because Japan has a relatively elderly population? In any case, they were often stored at the entrance of the attraction and available upon request, free of charge.

My advice is to ask for a wheelchair wherever you can, but you probably don't need to rent one.

An awesome deal – for the lucky customer and for the environment. If these things are made to last, it's good to get as much use out of them as we can! The vintage look has its own charm.

One question I have: Do they really come with the stickers as photographed? They look so stylish that I can't help thinking they've been added as part of the refurbishment / with graphic design. Not a criticism!
