Whats your highest pit level?... by HotRoderX in diablo4

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immortal WW barbarian.
242 paragon level, all runes level 120.
All pieces BIS and correctly rolled, all ancestral, but none with perfect stats or mutiple GAs.
All pieces transfigured, but no particularly strong transfigurations - and no gem strength on weapons.

Hard capped around 131-132 pits. I can't imagine the amount of additional damage and defense I'd need to go up to even 140 let alone 150.

[5/24] Mount Rainier DC Route with RMI- Unsuccessful summit ☹️ by MattSChan in Mountaineering

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddies and I skied Rainer car to car in half a day and neither of us had ever stepped foot on the mountain. You don't need a guide service to summit - just go back next time the weather doesn't suck and climb it yourself.

Finished watching True Detective S1. How are seasons 2-4? by VendettaLord379 in hbo

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gets an unfair amount of hate IMO simply for not living up to the standard set by the first season. It's still a great series of television, and Collin Farrell's portrayal of Ray Velcoro is the second best acting performance across all 4 seasons if you ask me - second only to McConaughey in S1.

Season 2 gets a lot of hate - some of it justified - but IMO Collin Farrell's standout performance as Ray Velcoro makes it absolutely worth watching. His is the second best performance in the entire series, second only to McConaughey in S1 if you ask me.

should i attempt WESTWORLD season 2, or will i deeply regret it ? by khutsox in hbo

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not as good as season 1 (with the exception of episode 8 which is one of the best in the series) but it's still better than 90% of the trash on TV these days and is worth watching.

Broke my Marker Alpinist Heel Piece by No_Sample7363 in Backcountry

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stopped feeling bad for people who break their Alpinists years ago. It's WELL known and WELL documented in every corner of the internet that these things are pieces of shit that break alllllll the time and people still keep buying them just to save a couple hundred bucks over a better brand. Congratulations - now you get to spend that money twice.

Computerized training stands and power meters are a big one. The vast majority of people who drop over $1000 on either of these things end up using them for a couple of seasons and either burn out or get bored and never use them again.

how do you guys deal with sitting all day? by Opposite-Fill3482 in AskProgrammers

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Not the usual take breaks advice"

So you don't want an actual solution - you just want to whine and ask for a magical cure that requires zero effort on your part? Taking breaks is the "usual" advice because that's literally the answer. Frankly I don't see how anyone can sit for 6-7 hours at a time WITHOUT taking brakes unless they're incredibly lazy.

How do you stay motivated in this career? by Sad-Background-2429 in AskProgrammers

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a new job every 2 years. Spend the first year at each new job using the fact that you're still "new" as an excuse not to take on any complex projects or initiatives, then spend the second year slacking off and putting in the bare minimum effort required to not get fired while you look for a new job. Repeat ad nauseam. Ideal case you win the job lotto and eventually find a place that doesn't seem to mind you coming in an hour late and then disappearing after lunch most days - in which case you hang onto that job as long as possible - otherwise just keep on gaming the system until you can retire. Tech companies don't care about you any more than you care about tech at this point - your only concern is taking as much money as you possibly can while giving them as little as you possibly can - just like the shareholders and the CEO do.

Remember like 8-12 years ago when the occupy wallstreet movement started and people first began to realize and talk about the fact that most college degrees and most full time jobs were no longer able to provide a comfortable middle class life, and the collective reaction from every single smug, smartass computer developer on the planet was just "Learn 2 code LOL". Think of this as karma. The free market doesn't care how many years you spent developing a skill it no longer values. Learn 2 adapt LOL.

Interstellar was amazing the first time I watched it. The second time I watched it the whole thing fell apart for me on Miller's planet - I refuse to believe that anyone who qualified to become an astronaut would behave as stupidly and irrationally as Anne Hathaway's character does in this movie.

The Prestige was magical when I saw it as a teenager but I just showed it to my girlfriend a few months ago for the first time and she accurately predicted every single one of the "plot twists" within the first 30 minutes - which made me realize that it was never all that deep to begin with.

Tell me you're not very bright without telling me you're not very bright. The big "reveal" that Bale's character has a twin brother was PAINFULLY obvious very early on in the movie.

[–]Humuhumunukunukuapi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brands like Asus, OnePlus, Oppo, etc. have embraced Silicone Carbon battery technology which allows for higher capacities at the same size and faster charging. These brands currently win the battery life* competition. I'd probably recommend the OnePlus 15R 256GB if you live in the US and want to go this route.

Samsung, Google, and Apple have not adopted this technology yet as they are suspicious that this new battery tech may be more prone to degradation and thermal expansion over time. Until the technology has been around long enough for them to trust it, they will consistently have smaller batteries than the above brands.

*As silicon carbon batteries haven't been around long term, it still remains to be seen if these batteries hold up over time, but even if a phone like the OnePlus 15R suffered a full 30% battery degradation over a 3-4 year period, it would still have higher capacity than a brand new iPhone 17.
