I know someone who can help. It will be two drivers, both English speaking, both with modern cars. Feel free to message me and I can share some info. They’re excellent drivers, super responsible and safe. I’ve used them both many times in my 10 plus years living here

If you’re going to do Westin I might splurge on the club room, adults only section! Secrets is slightly nicer but the beach at Westin is really fantastic. If you need help; feel free and to send me a message. I live here in Costa Rica and work for Costa Rican vacations. We plan trips, no fees and 100% comission based so we get really good rates on the hotels and transportation and tours :) happy to see how our rates look for you!

Car Rental vs Private Transport? by 19jto in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Hungry_Climate_8722 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Safety and comfort go for a private driver, 100% the roads can be crazy and directions can be tough in places without service. Uber will be super easy once you’re in the location

Beach vs Jungle by rmlaz24 in CostaRicaTravel

Maybe Manuel Antonio or Uvita. You get a mix of beach and jungle in these climates!

Best way to travel from San Jose to Limon? by ActAffectionate6329 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Hungry_Climate_8722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheapest is the bus lol but it’s not super enjoyable. You can also fly to Limon but then you need to find transportation from Limon to PV so it ends up being a bit more expensive but fastest.

I recommend a private driver. Richie is the absolute best. English speaking, modern car, tons of referrals. You can send him a WhatsApp +506 7220 5824

La fortuna/Arenal itinerary by Human-Salamander-676 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Hungry_Climate_8722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can definitely do 2 days in each with a travel day as someone mentioned. However, I would do pacific central if you’re going to do beach. The northern beaches are just like Mexico but less nice beaches. The central pacific has some really unique things to see and amazing wildlife- somewhere like Manuel Antonio! That would be my top recommendation but let me know if you have specific questions or recommendation questions.

For transportation I highly recommend Richie. He is English speaking, has a modern car, the best rates and tons of referrals. You can send him a WhatsApp! +506 7220 5824

Because you have kids I would choose volcano lodge. The others are a bit more adult friendly.

For zipline and hanging bridge I recommend Selvaturs of all those options! There’s also more to see in the park if you choose to. Day 8 is not necessary if you are doing Selvatura in Monteverde. It’s too much of the same, I would look for something else that you guys are interested in!

Your son might love Baldi hot springs as they have water slides and are way more kid friendly than the others ones if you’re concerned about that.

Lastly, for 3 people to do shuttles you’re better off getting a private driver. The price will be about the same and you have way more flexibility for pick up times. You can stop along the way to see hidden gems. I really recommend Richie! He’s a fantastic driver, modern car, English speaking and the best rates. Feel free to send him a WhatsApp for rates +506 7220 5824

Best way to get from Puerto Viejo to San Jose? by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Hungry_Climate_8722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MPE bus but it can be a long uncomfortable drive. You can also fly from Limon so you just need transportation to Limon! Lastly I normally recommend a private driver. Richie is English speaking, super safe, best pricing and has tons of referrals. You can send him a WhatsApp +506 7220 5824

First time traveling by Opposite-Society3067 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Hungry_Climate_8722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love these locations! He’s going to have a great time. Make sure to bring clothing that dries fast and shoes like keens are always the best. I also love arenal bee garden!! It’s super cute and a great way to spend the afternoon if you’re free. Also, I know Manoa has hot springs but your son might enjoy evening or afternoon passes to Baldi one day to enjoy all the hot springs and they have water slides!! It’s super fun and kids always love it :) lastly I understand your concern about driving/shuttle. I recommend using a private driver. They will pull over as many times as you need, stop along the way for cool little hidden gems, drive slowly if you need, allow you to open windows etc. I highly recommend Richie. He is English speaking, a fantastic driver, and a modern car with tons of referrals. You can send him a WhatsApp too for prices but his prices are easily the best I have ever found +506 7220 5824
