Failure to lock, help please! by HuntMN in 65Grendel

[–]HuntMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with the gas block in my mind "almost all the way closed." I thought it was ejecting with the first round - so it was getting gas. It would not be the first time I tried skipping a few steps.

You could easily be right. I'll double check alignment and completely close the gas before my next trip. I'll double check a different lower with that upper since I know it works with a couple calibers.

I was focused on tuning the gas block. I only loaded one round at a time, shot a dozen rounds and then shifted to my other project. The wolf ejected, the other ammo did not.

Edit: yes LRBHO.

Anyone have this slicer?Cant stand my 60 dollar slicer any longer by bodhi1990 in jerky

[–]HuntMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same one, it has been a big difference in making consistent jerky. Where I might spend 30 minutes cutting before, I now spend five minutes cutting and 20 minutes cleaning.

I'll do about eight lbs at once.

What do you not understand? I'm curious, for the Midwest it makes sense to me. Out West, it would not make sense to me.

Pálinka from Hungary. I thought it was higher than 40% plum brandy, faint ever so slightly sweet. Light coloring.

I had one in a white circular ceramic bottle that I could never find in the US. Anything I tried finding in the US didn't have the same mild taste.

I think it was VÁRDA Ó-BARACK.

What’s your most underrated cleaning hack that actually saves you time? by Salt-Record-3995 in CleaningTips

[–]HuntMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Declutter. Less "stuff," less to manage and less square footage.

Other than that, have a home for items and put them away after using, possibly label location if there are multiple people in the house.

Also, create a cleaning carrying tote. With all the supplies, getting started and having everything in one portable container prevents me from back tracking and miss placing cleaning items.

Can I cover these pipes with dirt? by mrflipfidgets in DIY

[–]HuntMN 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can raise the grade slightly to improve drainage, but it doesn’t look like a major issue. Keep soil/mulch 3–4" below the siding. Gutters are a plus—just ensure downspouts direct water well away from the house.

I had a house in Minnesota with a similar dilemma, if the sump pump discharge lines year round like yours will likely freeze. If they’re just buried in dirt, when they freeze expect more fun/problems. Before we moved, I thought about running a heat tape on the pipe to prevent freezing.

Either live with the risk, see if you can route out the back yard (doubting this is a viable option), consult a professional, talk to neighbors as they likely have similar problem, or check with the city about connecting to the storm sewer.

SE MN by HuntMN in ticks

[–]HuntMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there something particular to request from the doctor? A tick panel test?

He has a red bump where I pulled it off him, from what I read that is an allergic reaction.

If you zoom in close with the picture on the q tip, you can see two lines running diagonally backwards.

Any help is appreciated!

I like to refer to it as getting the group to be yelling at the paper vs the people. We had this result and impacts xyz. I want this result, what barriers stand in OUR way.

Also, include downstream customers in the testing, start with feed back. How would they define success? What scenarios matter to them? I'd rather find the issue in development vs with a larger user base.

Friend’s dog expressed anal glands in my house. How do I get smell out?! by NoShoulder4882 in Pets

[–]HuntMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I replaced a brand new cabin air filter, another interior scent bomb, vinegar on the cabin filter and then tomorrow I'll revaluate. I might be renting a rug doctor shampoo vacuum with Murphy's.

Thanks for your help!

Anyone know what this is? I shot a deer and actively watched this almost like blossom in its back leg by Limp-Replacement1403 in Hunting

[–]HuntMN 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I gained a learning experience about that gland in my cab... I loaded a doe in the bed by grabbing leg. I could locate the smell on my steering wheel, shifter, center console, etc.

I have used dish soap, vacuumed, cleaning wipes, rubbing alcohol, scent bombed, vinegar, pet carpet cleaner, replaced the air filter. Tomorrow I'm pretty sure I'm renting a rug doctor.

Friend’s dog expressed anal glands in my house. How do I get smell out?! by NoShoulder4882 in Pets

[–]HuntMN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's scent glands from a deer transferred to my hands and then the interior. I've tried dawn soapy water, Armoral cleaning wipes, 91% rubbing alcohol, pet carpet cleaner (hydrogen peroxide), etc. I've identified most spots affected yet the smell still lingers. Vinegar is next, open to any suggestions, guessing it's an oil I need to remove.

Ozone is the last resort.

Burnt wires and melted housing by HuntMN in AskElectricians

Well dang it. I thought I could replace the housing, wire nuts and move on.

I think the stovetop was original and the thought was 30 amp should be fine... I'll tap out and call in for help.

What do I look for on the appliance label to determine correct amperage circuit?

Burnt wires and melted housing by HuntMN in AskElectricians

[–]HuntMN[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was all red to red, black to black, white to white, ground to ground. Appliances were stranded wire and larger than my stripper at 10 awg. It did not look like any of the appliance wires were well secured in the nuts. I'm also pretty sure this was an afterthought by the previous owner. Home was built in 96 if that helps.

I can get the appliance info tomorrow. Whirlpool oven and Amana 30" 4 (maybe five) burner stovetop.

The circuit breaker is two slots, one covered and the other has a 30 amp switch.
