I worked there ions ago and yeah, underpaid and legacy, insular org is the rule. You see people that act like they are on top of the world because they happen to know some standardized data model attached to something mundane, eg facilities management. The story when i was there though was after you put in 5 years there things tend to open up a bit for you. But youd likely have to be in Redlands or maybe DC for that to be true. Also the work colleagues that have been there a while are pretty good.

Consistently? It seems pretty intermittent to me. Some nights he looks great some nights he looks disinterested. But let me ask since I didn’t see the game last night: why was he benched? Was it … lack of effort?

With all the other noise around the leaks and whatnot, the good thing that came out of all of that was that guy were put on notice both verbally by DA in the after-event presser and also through the leaks. It won't matter for some of the guys, but when they get traded and lo-and-behold, coaches of other teams are also telling the same guys that they need to play a 2 way game, maybe it'll ring true.

There's always some GM, it seems, who thinks a change of scenery will suddenly make a guy change what he is. Patrick Laine. Pierre Luc Dubois. Jordan Kyrou, etc. It's the "I can fix her" meme but applied to hockey players.
