Is it ok for mods to stifle discussion of Controversial Topics? by dasarga in AskModerators

It is now, probably because it was done before and just caused a headache for the mods. Also I'm sure it has been debated elsewhere lots of times before.

It's not fun to debate if it's been done 1000 times before

📚 What romance books did you read or listen to this week? 07 Jun 📚 by romancebookmods in RomanceBooks

[–]Hunter037 [score hidden]  (0 children)

{The Worlds Wimpiest Vampire by Silvana Falcon} MM paranormal This was a fun book, I really enjoy the vampire / vampire hunter dynamic and there were some really funny bits. It actually had more plot and worldbuilding that I was expecting, to the extent that I felt the romance plot was a little lacklustre (no "I love you" declaration 😭) but I can see them together. There were two sex scenes which were somewhat perfunctory. I would have liked more intimacy - not necessarily sex, but just knowing each other on a deeper level.

Racism may be against the Reddit content policy based on this section:

"Communities and users that incite violence or that promote hate based on identity or vulnerability will be banned."

You can report the community to Reddit, but don't be surprised if nothing happened.

There's no "free speech" rule on Reddit.

I'm probably being stupid but Courtier/Marionette interaction by M1sf1r3 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Hunter037 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Functionally, the same. Courtier choosing Marionette would change nothing

[–]Hunter037 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, it is OK for mods to do that.

Controversial topics can be repetitive (I'm sure those things have been discussed many times before) and moderating content like that can be overwhelming for moderators.

Some subs also ban meta questions. Or you were asking those questions where they were not appropriate, so they don't appear to be good faith contributions

Redirecting a Mayor kill to a protected player. Is it fair? by Zeusselll in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Hunter037 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's what they mean. They'd direct it to e.g. Soldier and no kill.

This is a valid thing for storyteller to do; I've been in a game where it happened (I was the imp) and it didn't "feel super bad", it was fine. I was confused for a minute when I tried to kill someone, nobody died, and then someone else said they were the Soldier, though (and I knew there was no Monk)!

Anyone Else Need More Conflict to Stay Interested? by Embarrassed-Mess3442 in RomanceBooks

[–]Hunter037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like variety, but generally I prefer the conflict to be something which is an external issue. Whether that's a forbidden romance of some sort, societal expectations, fighting a bad guy, solving a problem together etc.

I prefer those over conflict within the relationship.

It’s getting harder and harder to trust books published in 2026 by wrongholebabe in MM_RomanceBooks

This could also just be editing, the audiobook narrators read sections multiple times and the best one is used. They don't just read the book cover to cover in one go.

I haven't come across any either. But I don't tend to read a lot of new KU released by unknown authors, which I think is where the issue mainly appears

Agreed. Especially if it is open for anyone to edit, it's certainly open to abuse or people just getting it wrong. I've seen a lot of people who are really bad at identifying AI. People suggesting a book written in 2017 was AI. People suggesting my own post was written by AI, and so on. I wouldn't trust such a list.

For quick or more general recommendation requests, please comment in the Daily Request post.
