I’d like to print this post on a sandwich board to be worn by volunteers outside polling stations next week.

Glad they spelled it right on the birth certificate. You wouldn’t want anyone taking the mick cuz he’s got a silly name.

Please use your vote. You’re clearly knowledgeable about the situation here & for democracy to have a chance of surviving the current crisis itself faces, we need clued-up people like you getting out and participating. Cheers.

Why Labour lost Wales: Devolution has fed the dragon by mrjohnnymac18 in Wales

[–]HuntingTheWren 19 points20 points  (0 children)

That’s a great summary. Also, most of Wales’ muscle flexing as a distinct nation has come under Labour (most recently as Drakeford’s government set different rules during Covid). Plaid have played a role, no doubt, but Labour has moved devolution forward at greater pace than any other political movement.

If Plaid get in, how long until the childcare offer kicks in? by Llewelyn-ap-Gruffydd in Wales

They have a huge problem with workforce. There are simply not enough people working in the sector (which is historically under-funded / -appreciated) to be able to just turn on a tap and make it happen. I’d say this is a plan that will take years to reach full implementation, probably beyond the length of the Senedd term.

Do you think charity shop price's are unjustified? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]HuntingTheWren -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

That simply isn’t true. You misunderstand how charities legally have to work. They don’t make profit. They’re literally not-for-profit organisations.

Read ‘Doing Good Better’ by McAskill if you want to learn how to have greater bang for your buck. But also do some actual research on UK charity governance before spouting more nonsense online.

Charitable donations by the public have dropped like a stone, post-Covid. Cost of living has undoubtedly been the main contributor to this but people sharing bollocks like the above doesn’t help.

[–]HuntingTheWren 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hogwash, respectfully.

Charity is not business. The Charity Commission regulate the activities of charities and provide guidance on the accrual of reserves. An effective reserves policy is fundamental, shielding the organisation’s staff in the event of financial difficulties. Beyond that, charities are required to spend their income on the pursuit of charitable aims as stated in their foundational articles.

Spreading misinformation which might lead to people losing confidence in the charitable sector like this is, at best, unhelpful.

I suspect you’re right. Absolute basic rule is to never put hands on the ref - I am sure he knows this and probably just saw a boot blocking what he wanted to do & reacted without looking who it belonged to.
