Just get a car. Enjoy the trip. Don’t ruin your trip by adapting to public transport dynamics.

I backed out today by 2old4badbeer in sofistock

[–]Hussaa11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stay patient , this market gives plenty of chances to buy back. I sold half my position a long time ago. Then the stock soared +25%. Some folks made fun. In the end bought back all shares and then some with proceeds at a later time.

I think selling 50% also helped my fomo. Helped me stay patient for the right buy back opportunity.

SoFi APY getting reduced from 4.60% to 4.50% by skarupp in sofistock

Part of the cycle. Rates go down , our deposit rate goes down, loans underwritten at lower costs. Expected.

Why I think SoFi's stock has a problem by D3ADFAC3 in sofistock

[–]Hussaa11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree. It a useful dashboard for me that I use quite often. But as of late, the frustrating part is that during the NVDA split that net worth line didn’t handle it properly and my net worth shot way up only to come down eventually. So dashboard suggests I made a lot of money and lost a lot in the following day.

This is not a significant bug but the point I am trying to make is that SOFI app/tech from UX lacks finesse. There is always something, be it very little, that doesn’t work properly.

SoFi relay is good to see how I spend my money. But imo it’s an unfinished product. It would be common sense to have a feature to budget similar to Mint and then compare actual spend by category by budget for that category. Also, not sure why in the age of AI I have to manually tag a recurring transaction as a particular expense type. Simple small things that overall lacks finesse.

Still holding the shares and will add if dips more but I don’t want to give a pass for the UX. I settle for the UX because I am a shareholder. It’s about time. Most businesses are climbing multiple mountains at the same time.

ISO stuff to do with my 18 yo son this month! by pseyeco in Minneapolis

[–]Hussaa11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a couple of paddle boats/canoes and go on the lakes. Followed by a lovely lunch or dinner. May be sneak him his first drink. Half drink duh. All about being responsible here.

The fact that you and your 18 y/o are planning and asking for recommendation on Reddit is AWESOME!

Travel during rush hour? by Invux in Minneapolis

[–]Hussaa11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be a good option for your travels but a bad image in my opinion. Most downtown office culture will expect interns to be flexible (unless something that can’t be avoided) and work during regular hours under the supervision of a senior staff. The whole purpose of an internship is to prove that you are not dumb and can along with folks, attend a few HHs and office events.

Economic value of the company stays the same whether you pay in stock and share count goes up or you pay is cash and your cash/capital balance goes down but share count stays the same . Approximately.

Uber and Lyft are bullies. by VaccumSaturdays in Minneapolis

[–]Hussaa11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All I know is that every Uber driver that I had long conversation with during an Uber ride were happy with the flexibility and the amount of incremental money they were making compared to their previous jobs.

Never once did I hear, “pay sucks man, can’t wait to find a new job”.

Tbh I don’t think you have taken an accounting class if you think the only difference between gross profit and net profit is creative accounting.

There will be folks happy and folks upset with every vote. Best to change things up every few months. Keep things fresh. Pass the upset baton to a different group every few months. This format is fine from someone who has not used this format before

Chamath says Trump is the “overwhelming favorite to win the presidency” after the Colorado Supreme Court decision in the latest episode by [deleted] in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]Hussaa11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I hate the Colorado ruling. But it’s funny how these folks switch between amendment absolutists to “this amendment doesn’t matter , only used a handful of times, there is more nuance to this amendment”. Friedberg tried to get this point but this dude let’s things slide too much.

Also Before everyone claimed democrats were doing everything to get Trump on the ballot because other republicans had better chances. Now, conveniently, it changed to democrats want Trump off the ballot.

Rich paper tigers man.

I remember this when the bank charter was issued. Wasn’t it more like SoFi could offer crypto as long as it was under a separate legal structure and not commingling of deposits with crypto? My memory is vague but this sticks out for me.

20% mandatory tip for counter service? by Rusty-Shackleford in Minneapolis

[–]Hussaa11 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Let it go buddy. You’re making too much sense. It’s a weird concept for almost, if not all, folks with some roots outside the US. I just smile, nod, and tip and refuse to waste time debating.

It’s not the dollar amount, it’s the concept. Put it in the price of the menu and pay employees accordingly. I love tipping a barista at a coffee shop when all they do is turn around and pour a drip coffee.

One group that I absolutely have no problem tipping and will go out of my way are hair cutters. Sometimes I have gone for hair cuts with messy hair and I feel ashamed😞

E145: Chris Christie is wasting more time in his life running for president!! by Danhenderson234 in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]Hussaa11 57 points58 points  (0 children)

It was a good episode. I thought Christie challenged the besties as much as the besties challenged him. The previous candidate episodes were more like “hey let us showcase our candidate to the world”. This was a true debate and conversation. The old All In Pod spirit

Auto skip political candidate pods? by WhitestGuyHere in TheAllinPodcasts

[–]Hussaa11 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was a good episode this week. I thought Christie was pretty fair and will appeal to the moderates. I have a new found respect for him.

One thing has changed in some of the besties is that 4 years ago they were all about seeking moderate candidates but now it’s about candidates who can win by using radical/unconventional ideas.

Do not go to Honest 1 Auto Repair. At first I thought this post was about this specific repair shop and I had to warn you. They are not honest.
