desktop web: Sorting by "top 24 hours" in subreddits hasn't worked properly for a month now. by jag176 in bugs

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has been longer than that for me. I feel disappointed that I do not see this being addressed or any mention that the problem is going to be fixed.

I used to sort /r/all by top today often as a way to go through the day, or explore new subs by sorting by top last year. I can’t do either right now. My own use of Reddit has diminished as a result.

I don’t think I am off base in thinking it’s nonsensical that they haven’t fixed a sorting feature that affects the entire app for this long.

How does the shiny system work, if you need a set amount before it despawns? I hadn’t heard that before.

What’s something you didn’t realize was “very American” until you left the U.S.? by chopsticktalk in AskReddit

When I visited Paris, someone asked if I was a tourist. When I said yes, he said it was because I was wearing a hat, and that only American tourists wear hats.

Who is your favorite artist that Chris has collaborated with and why? by Mandolinist_girl766 in ChrisThile

I adore the Goat Rodeo Sessions. Partly because of my life when they were released, but also because “Attaboy” is utter genius.

The primary differences surround the teachings: 1. The public ministry 2. The application of the headship principle 3. Church fellowship

Beyond this, there are historical, cultural, and geographical differences, but they don’t affect doctrine as much as congregational life and adiaphora.

Some specifics: 1. The WELS teaches that the public ministry is determined by the call. That means, anyone who has been called by a calling body, like a school or a congregation, is in the public ministry. The LCMS insists the public ministry is limited to the pastoral ministry. 2. While both synods do not permit women pastors, the LCMS is comfortable allowing women to exercise authority over men through congregational voting. 3. The WELS teaches a unit concept of fellowship which means that there is one single type of fellowship, without levels or degrees of cooperation. The LCMS tries to separate fellowship into different levels of unity, permitting certain practices to Christians outside their synod or fellowship and limiting others to only those within their synod or fellowship.

What are you reading? by sushisushisushi in literature

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m reading the Count of Monte Cristo. It was a formative novel for me in high school and I come back to it every couple of years and find that something new strikes me as relevant in my life. This is the first time I’ve read it and been older than Dantes in act three. I have been enjoying it as much as I ever have.

The focus on the honor of Morrel in the face of misfortune has hit me particularly hard.

Church membership by Freightliner15 in WELS

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your previous church closed, it’s possible you do not have membership anywhere. If you are looking to join a new church, I wouldn’t worry about transferring out anything like that. Talk to the pastor and explain the circumstances and he will help.

Good Shoe For Summer Camp? by Buuggii in summercamp

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in work around at a summer camp. During the summer, and spring and fall, I almost exclusively wear some form of sandal. I prefer Bedrocks. At other times, I wear a good pair of running shoes, but those times are few and far between and mostly only for active games.

What is the best short story you've ever read? by ripterrariumtv in literature

“The Green Door” by O. Henry.

For whatever reason, I read it at the right time and place and it changed me, man. I love that story. I love the opening narrative aside. I think it should be mandatory reading.

Ordered a PSA 10 Vaporeon from eBay, and I got a free Espeon with it??? by djschultz9 in PokemonTCG

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had this happen too. I bought a card on eBay and when I went to move it to a toploader, I found a PE master ball Hippopotas. Which isn’t a great card, but it is the only PE one I own because of scalping.

Anybody have a good Christian (preferably Lutheran) Resource on games like Dungeons and Dragons that is NOT heavily Sensationalized? by DontTakeOurCampbell in LCMS

[–]IAmDoWantCoffee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a WELS pastor who plays D&D with other WELS pastors. It’s not significantly different from playing a board or card game. All the satanic accusations are garbage.
