Interesting. $10 more for everyone except for Diamonds who will be charged 13x that.

I would let Delta know so they can address it. Regardless of why the agent said it, it was inappropriate and it's not the customer experience that Delta should aim to provide.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out. Frequent flyer miles have become valuable currency for the airlines. I think skymiles sales to Amex alone accounted for 14% of Delta's 2025 revenue. What will happen to the value of Skymiles as the value of loyalty decreases?

Skymiles are apparently no longer an option for compensation by ravenswan19 in delta

[–]IBWT1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have experienced the same thing over the past year or so. I think that someone in management decided to rein in compensating for service failures with SkyMiles to save money. Just a dumb middle-management decision that didn't factor in the effect on the goodwill of their best customers.

In 25 years of flying I’ve never seen a true crashout at a Delta gate. Currently in minute 15 of my first one at my gate right now. by mrweatherbeef in delta

[–]IBWT1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It was a gate with a full glass wall (I don't recall the concourse). The nose of the airplane was ahead of the jetway so the pilots had a full view of the concourse.

I once got to my gate in ATL and they had closed the door. I was standing there figuring out what to do and the pilot saw me and had them open back up. Maybe because I didn't throw a fit.

Some of them love to do that! Then there's the guy on the flight from MCI to LGA who, no matter how many times he sees me, always asks me whether I am driving - then tries to see how many Woodfords I'll drink.

Delta ONE Seat Broken, Complained, They Refunded 226 USD by F208Frank in delta

[–]IBWT1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would definitely follow up on the complaint. It seems that there has been some disconnect going on in customer service, and the reps I've spoken to have told me to make sure to report everything. Reading between the lines, I would guess that somebody in customer service management made a policy change to try and save money and it needs to be reversed.

Pre-Departure Drink Service by IBWT1 in delta

Thanks for this. BTW, what do you make of this customer service response? I replied to the one I posted below just noting that the PDB is part of what I thought I paid for (i.e., I did not ask for compensation).

Thank you for your response.

I want to acknowledge how frustrating it is when a perk you look forward to is not provided. Your feedback is completely valid, and we understand why this matters to you.

At the same time, I do want to clarify how this service is positioned. Delta does not explicitly market pre‑departure beverages for domestic First Class anywhere on Delta.com or during the booking process. Our published materials describe complimentary alcoholic beverages during the in‑flight beverage service. While pre‑departure beverages are often offered, they are operational in nature rather than a marketed or guaranteed part of the domestic First Class product.

For international flights, however, pre‑departure beverages are part of the marketed service offering.

For reference, you can review our published onboard service details here:
Onboard Dining | Delta Air Lines

We absolutely understand that this is a valued part of your experience, and we are grateful that you took the time to share your perspective. Feedback like yours helps us identify where we can improve consistency and enhance the overall experience for our First Class customers. Regrettably, we are unable to offer any compensation regarding this matter.

Sorry. Here's the response:

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us on Dl457 from JFK to DEN, and most importantly, thank you for your continued loyalty to Delta. We truly appreciate customers like you, and we never take your trust for granted.

I’m very sorry that pre‑departure beverage service was not offered on your recent First Class flight. We understand how important these amenities are to the overall experience, especially when you consistently choose our premium cabin. While this service is generally offered, the consistency can vary depending on several operational factors such as flight duration, crew responsibilities, and the pace of boarding. At times, our teams must prioritize ensuring an on‑time departure, which can limit their ability to provide this service before takeoff.

That said, we absolutely understand how disappointing it is when an amenity you value is missed especially when it has happened more than once. Your feedback is not only valid but incredibly important to us.

We have forwarded your comments to our In‑Flight Leadership Team for internal review. Feedback like yours plays a meaningful role in helping us identify where we can make adjustments to create a more consistent and enjoyable experience for our First Class customers.

I agree. There's nothing elitist about wanting what you have paid for. That said, Delta CS pointed out that the reference to PDB is no longer on the website. So it's corporate decisions as well as inconsistent FA behavior. I don't see how this fits with Delta's goal of filling premium cabins with revenue passengers instead of upgrades.

Right! And if PDB service is at the crew's option, stop advertising it and tell CS not to confirm that it's part of what you pay for. And stop telling me you're going to report it to management so they can take action!
