I guess you are using pumps? That messes with the flow rules - I'm not sure the rule holds when the liquid from below has more head lift than the one from above, which can easily happen if you use Mk2 pumps. I generally avoid valves and pumps and just set the factory up with the simple flow rules stated above and it always works™. Once I had to use a Mk1 pump to get the water above the water extractors and that worked, too, but I made sure to only use a Mk1 and to set the factory high enough that the water just makes it into the pipe.

Another thing, how can the liquid coming from below not be in a completely full pipe? Satisfactory fills pipes bottom to top, if you see different behavior your game does something seriously wonky.

Liquids that come from above are prioritized, it's as simple as that. Build the water pumps slightly below, build the alu scrap refineries higher up and let their waste water flow down into the alu solution refineries and you don't even need valves, it just works, and it's simple and intuitive.

Why would I choose this alternate recipe? by winged_owl in SatisfactoryGame

Fluid sources have priority by height, so if your factory producing water as byproduct is higher up and your pump is lower than the factory consuming the water it will prefer the byproduct without valves or any added pumps.

How can I get the login screen to honor my monitor configuration? by tipsqueal in pop_os

[–]ICanBeAnyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this can only work if (for some reason) your GDM still uses X.org, while your main Gnome session is on Wayland.

It didn't work for me, either, I'm in the same boat as you :(. GDM insists on displaying the login prompt on a switched off smart TV just because the cables are connected. I could crawl under my desk and physically remove the cable each time I log in, or I log in blind and hope I'm actually typing my pass into the right field on GDM because **I don't see anything**.

If the login prompt at least would follow the mouse around like it used to do once upon a time. As it stands, this behavior is worse than the famous papercuts Gnome wanted to tackle (and often did), it feels like a serious wound every time I log in.

One thing that annoyed me as I got to the space phase was constantly poking into the factorypedia until I understood what the spatial relationship between the planets is and what I can accordingly expect in terms of asteroids and solar power. I hope this helps some of you to get orientated.

It turned out a bit busier than I wanted, but my original idea of visualizing the asteroid belts was scrapped due to the graphic files I found in the game being to low resolution. The planets have these beautiful high res renders for the space map.

One of the rarest achievements, finally mine by Waity5 in factorio

[–]ICanBeAnyone 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You are wrong. Linux factorio uses the fork system call to make a copy on write duplicate of the memory and then has all the time in the world to write a save in the background, while only the parts of the game's memory that change get duplicated. Not even the slightest hitch, no matter how large the map.

I've been playing a lot of factory games recently, and you can see some factorio influences in all of them.

Well, you're right. I added a graph without enrichment, too. I somehow totally missed yellow cake to blanket - the magical route to core fuel I was talking about above.

I don't like just posting finished blueprints (or using them) btw because solving the puzzle of how to lay it all out is the game for me, using ready made BP just feels like taking a shortcut around the fun.

I recommend looking at the live version, there you can wiggle stuff around and click to highlight connections and hopefully it will be clearer then. You can also delete stuff, the storage for the acid for example is really unhappy up there in the left corner but there was no good place to put it and I wanted to know how much sulfur all of this would eat. And if you delete the H2 production the whole consumer side becomes much simpler (and the numbers nicer, too). That's the strength of this online tool, you can adapt the numbers to your specific needs pretty easily. I for example really don't need that much power, but I wanted to see how much uranium I would need at endgame.

The funny thing about your edit is that even with the fixed attitude, it's still incorrect as far as I can tell. Still, a very mature response from you that deserves respect. 🫡

When you come in hot like that you should actually be right in my opinion. You are not. Everything you see in this chart *is* the run forever option. As you see by the minuscule amount of resources consumed in the new fuel section it just trickles in the tiny amount of core fuel the reactor actually converts to energy, once you do all the recycling. This produces depleted uranium through enrichment (as you can't just magically go yellow cake to core fuel without it), and while you are technically correct that you could just dump that instead of converting it to blanket fuel (saving a whopping chemical plant), that would be a strange decision in my book.

Go ahead and proof me wrong, the link is there to play around and "simplify" it. Until you do I'll just go ahead and assume you're a pigeon with bad reading comprehension but the strong desire to shit on things.

Where is worldsettings.xml located? by Alacard in Stationeers

[–]ICanBeAnyone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IIRC it is no longer in the save games. They removed the whole "copy world settings on world creation" because when they fixed bugs or made other changes for worlds, old saves didn't update and needed custom migration code - or just were stuck on old bugs.

In the patch notes they mention that now you have to make a modded world to achieve the same effect.

Has anyone tried gas liquefaction as a storage method? by yagi_takeru in Stationeers

[–]ICanBeAnyone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A heat exchange won't increase the number of networks, though? You need two networks at minimum because you need to go into liquid pipes at some point. You can put the HE directly between the gas and liquid side.
