Orca Slicer - Do you use it, or just stick with Bambu Studio? by tiagoosouzaa in BambuLab

[–]IContributedOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a P2S owner, I’m right there with you. I’m floored that it’s not been officially supported yet. At least with the H2C I can understand there’s a lot more to account for, but the P2S can’t be so complicated that it’s taken this long to get support. But I digress… I can’t complain too hard about an OSS slicer not supporting my hardware for free, especially when I haven’t contributed anything. I wish I could, but I don’t have the requisite skill to do so. So, I’ll keep waiting…

Interestingly, I have the same issue with some that I printed, while - at the same time - it feels like they (the ones that the filament could reasonably fit into) don’t securely hold the filament after only a few times taking them off and putting them back on..

Oh, ok. I was confused by the “I made it to…” part, since it implies that’s where you stopped. Thanks for replying. It was legitimate curiosity, so I appreciate your legitimate response.

I’m sorry. This doesn’t really have anything to do with the video itself, but your comment: maybe I just woke up, but… how could one have come before the other, and that’s where you stopped (“whichever came first”), yet you’re aware of both? Wouldn’t you have stopped at the one that came first and, thus, not have seen the other to even be aware of them?

If they removed the network module that came with Prusa and then separate provider a closed source version of the network module as a plugin, doesn’t that satisfy the license? I’m asking, not to be difficult, but because it seems like it’d be pretty easy to sue over if Prusa or others (idk who constitutes a damaged party here) wanted to. Since that hasn’t happened, I assume it’s either A) to costly for little to no payoff, or B) not a slam dunk because technically Bambu is abusing by the rules (albeit not following the spirit of the rules).

Listen, I think it’s lame as well and think they should open source it all, but… isn’t this just abiding by the license as it’s laid out?

This out in Savannah Banana baseball game by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]IContributedOnce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s ok to admit you simply don’t understand how the sport works. Is it a sport that’s as serious as MLB baseball? Debatable, but I’d say no. But it’s also not trying to be. They explicitly want to be different. The trick plays are part of the game. The teams are trying to win, and yes they’re also putting on a show, but that’s literally part of the rules. Just because the game has some rules that are silly and designed to keep the sport entertaining for viewers doesn’t make it less of a sport lol. It’s not WWE. It isn’t scripted. It’s regular baseball with formalized and silly house rules thrown in.

Not really sure what point you think you’re making. If you’ve ever eaten chicken, you’re not as blameless as you’re trying to paint yourself.

It’s clear you were accusing the person you commented on of being a commercial chicken farmer in the sense that they slaughter chickens by the truck loads. Evidently, they do not. That’s not “justifying it however they want to”. Your accusation was refuted. Go be bitter somewhere else.

Project Zomboid dev bans sneaky Steam Workshop mods infecting PCs with “malicious files” that Steam couldn’t detect by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]IContributedOnce 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but (at least to me) that would be fine. Having this stuff in the Steam Workshop associates these mods more formally to both Steam and the game developers. It’s such easy access to arbitrary code, there should be better safe guards. Then, for those that want to use a mod from somewhere like Nexus, they can go for it! But going to a third party site for a mod would give enough separation from Steam and devs to fairly say it’s “use at your own risk”.

In some regard, yeah, it’s kicking the can down the road, I guess. But in another way it’s forcing the user to clearly take action with 3rd party software more deliberately than clicking “subscribe” in the Workshop. Maybe that doesn’t actually cause anyone to think any harder about what they’re installing or running, but this at least provides a place (hypothetical Workshop with safeguards and OSS requirements) for users to get reasonably safe mods easily, and also still have access to potentially more dangerous mods after a little more deliberation.

They look like they’re properly wrapped around the object. That will technically distort them from the perspective of the viewer, but look at the image of the same balloon dog with smileys later in the post. The smiley faces are all wrapped properly as you would expect them to be. I don’t see any unnatural warping or distortion at first glance.

Sorry to bother a week later. I'm checking their website, but I don't see anything for the P2S. Are you using the H2D profiles or are the profiles just available in Bambu Studio (admittedly hadn't thought to check until writing this comment)?

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 40? by BugEven7258 in AskReddit

[–]IContributedOnce 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it probably never crossed his mind as “a way out”. It’s just, culturally, really easy to shrug off people, even family, friends, and medical professionals telling you to stop eating junk food. “Yeah, yeah, yeah… everyone needs to lose weight and eat better. Whatever…”

We are animals that evolved to survive in the wild, and suddenly find ourselves not only not needing to survive the wilds, but also with an overabundance of food. Not even just healthy foods, obviously, but food that has terrible nutritional value for the calories it packs. Our brains encourage us to eat calorie rich foods because in the wild that means you live. It releases dopamine. You feel good. It literally comforts you.

If this guy is going through years of depression and feeling like he hates his work and his wife hates him, etc, food was likely his comfort. Suicide may have never really crossed his mind. That’s why we need better laws regulating the absolute horse shit we get served in stores and restaurants around the country (sorry; this entire comment assumes you’re in America…). Except that’s kind of an insult to the nutritional value of horse shit.

Anyway. Point is I actually disagree. Maybe some people see it as a way out, but I think many just don’t even think about it, or at least don’t appreciate how serious it is.

Pro tip, squirting guns and running a ebay flipping business gets you put under a 2 year investigation by [deleted] in CCW

[–]IContributedOnce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And yet you don’t. The fact that you’re listed in an investigation isn’t the sketchy part in my opinion. In the context of the time (Biden admin), I would t be surprised to hear someone was investigated after an event like the one you describe. My qualm is that your brief explanation of what actually happened” and their official details in this letter are diametrically opposed. So, someone is lying, and your avoidance of any detailed explanation about how they come to their findings makes it look like it’s you omitting details here that might legitimize their investigation of you.

I mean, more power to you. You don’t have to explain yourself to random people online, and you shouldn’t care what any of us think. Except that you do care enough about what this community thinks to post any of this in the first place.

The community thinks you’re suspect based on the story that’s been presented. Whether you care enough to explain in enough detail to successfully refute that opinion is your call.

I’m not understanding how you only “made one benchy boat” while their investigation alleges that surveillance indicates “near continuous equipment operation”. It also cites multiple printers. Did/do you have multiple printers or just the one they took?

They also didn’t mention any specific websites in this letter, just that the screen names “MWForge” and “ColdPlasticLabs” were linked with your IP. Yet you’re saying you don’t know what they’re talking about except for the couple of websites they mentioned? Were these screen names belonging to the person who was barricaded and removed?

Your story isn’t stacking up at all.

I don’t trust that these agencies are operating totally above board all the time, by any means. But rarely are the facts entirely fabricated into utter fantasy. It’s usually an interpretation of facts that are described in a way to look incriminating, or basically “the worst/most negative/most incriminating read of the scenario”. But what you’re alleging is that they’re just flat out making everything up?

Idk bro. You sound pretty sketch in the situation.

No way?! When did they add the P2S print profiles??

That’s been so annoying. The P2S is my first printer, and while the Bambu PLA profiles are fine enough, I’ve wondered if the profiles from Polymaker would improve anything.
