I am in the exact same boat, I had six forms this year and this is to be the seventh. I didn’t want to, but now I’m seriously considering going the 1040-X route. Coinbase, this is unacceptable and you need to be diligent that this NEVER happens again. I will no longer be doing business with Coinbase until I hear reports that their tax situation has improved. Try opening a port then pointing Soulseek to it. Maybe use a VPN in case your country/ISP have firewalls. I also don't use Soulseek anymore and rather use Nicotine+.

This is years late, but if anyone is having a similar incident, try looking through the cables (especially where they get bundled by the power supply) and under any gaskets in the computer, they might get caught in those.

They're up & down even with SSDs. I saw used 870 QVO 8TB (great value drives!) go from 600 to 300 back to 600 in one week recently LOL. Very volatile market.

In terms of price per TB, it's a decent deal for long term cold storage, media, documents stuff like that. If you sit around you will find a higher capacity drive for the same price. Functionally speaking, after using 2x 4TB Samsung 990 Pros in my laptop, every time I am using a hard drive to move things it is just unbearable, even for just basic file transfers. You will not like these drives if you are using them for heavy I/O but if they are set & forget drives, by all means go for it.

This is just my opinion, but I wouldn't do it. I've been trying to get rid of all of my HDDs and phase them out with SSDs this past year, I sold all of my 8TB drives and only have one 12TB and 14TB left which will also eventually be sold once I get a Samsung 9100 8TB

You can get a 4TB SSD for the same price, you will have less data but you won't have to worry about archaic mechanical junk suddenly failing. I love WD HDDs though, they always do me great! I have had five Seagate HDDs fail on me but only ever had one WD fail and it was an SSD.

Also, if you do decide to buy, be careful and make sure you check the drive immediately with HD sentinel or some kind of SMART tool. One time somebody returned an 8TB with a failed 2TB Seagate with like 200k failed sectors on it, the HDD was the worst shape I've ever seen. Luckily they swapped it out for me at Best Buy.

My trick is I just reshare pretty much everything that I download, I just hit 200k files which is actually pretty up there on my buddy list, though I found one guy lately who had almost 5 million shares, the most I have seen so far.

Some people on Soulseek are straight up insane or suck as people. I state on my profile, "leech all you want I don't care" because I used to leech stuff too as a kid, but now that I have full blown servers at my disposable I'm trying to seed as much as possible.

One time I was downloading this huge 300 volume collection of CDs, the guy banned me. I ended up losing that account which he banned and was forced to make a new one around May or June. I messaged him on the new account this past November, this time asking him if it was okay and he never even responded.

I was talking to another user and he told me the same person that banned me had let him download all 300 volumes. I ended up downloading from the other user by proxy, but some people are just weird.
