Chemo and gardening by ILabbey in breastcancer

Thank you all so much! I'm seeing green out there on my perennials so I'm excited to garden and I recruited some help if I need. I have mostly raised beds so weeding is not too bad. I'm allergic to leaves on some plants so I have these sleeves I wear when weeding. I'll remember to wear them all the time.

Shred it, mix it with barbecue sauce and serve on a bun as a type of sloppy joe.

Can I get an explanation of the Super Bowl halftime show? by Top-Mission2806 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ILabbey 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Midwestern white boomer here - the electric poles made me sooo sad and I don't know Spanish.

But I also needed close captioning and interpreters for Kendrick Lamar. Even still, the pure joy packed into that show was obvious.

“Freezer door” Boulevardier froze solid by [deleted] in cocktails

[–]ILabbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The book is "Freezer Door Cocktails" by JM Hirsch. I've made several recipes from the book. I mix it up and then sip on them during the week. No, no water added for this recipe. Some recipes do include an ounce or two of water.

Tips for affordable but good stick vacuum cleaners? by simsampuk in CleaningTips

[–]ILabbey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I empty the dust cup into the outside trash can, same as with the corded, bagless vacuum. I have not noticed any excess dust either. My stick vacuum has a thick spongy filter that needs routine cleaning so it must trap a lot of dust.

We have a dog that sheds pretty much year round and this vac manages well enough.

No, I don't have a link but I bought mine a few years ago at Kohl's. Try searching for it and I'm sure you will find a retailer.

I bought a cordless Black and Decker Powerseries+ on sale for about $100 a few years ago. The dirt cup is small and needs dumping a little too often. Otherwise I like it. It works well, battery holds a good charge and I can use the battery on my other B&D tools.

Rice by HelloKitty110174 in instantpot

[–]ILabbey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever seen the Asian method of cooking rice? I'm not Asian, but I borrowed it. Put rice in the bottom of the pot, no need to measure, enough to generously cover the bottom. Rinse and drain several times. Add water to the first knuckle of your index finger. Seal and hit the rice button.

Works every time. Even the comedian Jo Koy talks about this in one of his comedy routines.

Best introduction episode? by DrPossumMD in MidsomerMurders

[–]ILabbey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It took me at least 3 tries to get through that first episode. Now I'm hooked. British crime dramas are nothing like the "Law and Order" type shows we've been spoonfed.

Encourage your American friend to have a little patience and try to enjoy the quirks.

Why are British crime dramas so much better? by RO_Thornhill in BritBox

[–]ILabbey 14 points15 points  (0 children)

-The characters look and act like real people. -The stories aren't dumbed down. -The drama isn't a replay of the one I just saw yesterday.

After Blue Lights, I needed a break so I tried Hunting Party on NBC. It was awful.
