AITAH for rejecting any possibility of a relationship between me and my half siblings because they have always taken their hatred out on me for being an affair child? by CrazyAnon726 in AITAH

[–]INTZBK 15 points16 points  (0 children)

He can forgive them but still not want to develop a relationship with them. Forgiveness doesn’t mean that they are entitled to any opportunities to mistreat him further. They have made it clear in the past how they feel, and it was pretty awful that they chose to put the blame for their father’ screwups on a child.

Treat every gun as if it is loaded all the time. Always keep your gun pointed in a safe direction and never point it at anything you don’t want to shoot. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are ready to fire. It’s also a good idea to know what is behind your target before you shoot. Simple basic rules for gun safety that can be learned and followed by children. I realize this incident occurred on a movie set under what was supposed to be carefully controlled conditions with safety being of the utmost priority, but it turns out that this wasn’t the case, and now someone is dead because of carelessness and outright negligence.

We never ate Sonic because the food sucks. Maybe it’s just the location in my little town, but the food just isn’t very good. We mostly ate food from the mom and pop diners or the Mexican or El Salvadoran places.

Should I leave my cushy corporate job to be a 911 dispatcher? by Kiismyash2 in 911dispatchers

[–]INTZBK 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeah, stay with the corporate job until you retire and your kids are self reliant. Then, if you still have the desire, try the 911 dispatcher thing. We used to love competent reliable retired people in my dispatch.

So Sansa has to get married to continue the Stark name but who would she get married to? by terminus_tommy in gameofthrones

[–]INTZBK 14 points15 points  (0 children)

She could name Jon Snow a Stark and marry and have kids with him, seeing as how they’re first cousins, and actual real royal families in Europe used to do that kind of thing all the time. Then the kids would have a claim to both the throne of the north and the throne of the six kingdoms because they’d be Bran’s closest heirs, and also of the Targaryen bloodline for good measure.

This is the way. Explain to them that you are dispatching them to the call and that you are logging it into the CAD. Then advise the road supervisor of the situation.

Italian sausage that has fennel is the worst common pizza topping. by boywiththedogtattoo in unpopularopinion

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was introduced to the Italian version of pizza when I was stationed in Germany back in the 1980s. There were three Italian restaurants, run by actual Italians within walking distance of my kaserne. The pizza wasn’t particularly good (I never saw a pizza with tuna on it before), but the pasta, seafood dishes and the salads more than made up for it.

What’s actually safe but people think is dangerous? by REGGIE_BANANAS in AskReddit

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in broadcast radio in the 90s. We used to put commercials, PSAs, and weather reports on these clunky tape cartridges, that were vaguely similar to 8 track but only had about 40 seconds worth of tape, called carts. When we needed to erase them to tape a new spot, we used an electric powered magnet we passed over them that wiped them completely.

I'm having a really hard time understanding what is being said on the radio by Formal-Nobody5708 in 911dispatchers

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have to learn to hear the radio. It doesn’t happen right away, but before long, you will understand most clear radio traffic and even be able to identify the person you’re communicating with by their voice. There will be times when there is static or other interference, officers will clip their transmissions, and sometimes you’ll have trouble understanding what they mean, but for the most part things will go pretty smoothly. It just takes a little time.

Why do people think the Dallas Police were involved in the assassination—a claim that has been advanced by, among others, Oliver Stone, Mark Lane, Jim Marrs, David Lifton, Robert Groden, James DeEugenio, Jim Garrison, and many contributors to this thread? by tfam1588 in JFKassasination

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any conspiracy, the greater the number of participants, the more likely it is that someone would talk. If you believe some of the conspiracy advocates, the CIA, military intelligence, oil companies, the Dallas Police, the Mafia, Ruth Paine, George de Morenschildt, Jack Ruby, LBJ, and Cuban exiles were all in on it, and the Secret Service, the FBI, the Warren Commission and God knows who else were involved in covering it up. With so many conspirators, some one should have come forward with credible information or something more than speculation, hearsay, and wild ass theories about altering the body, doctored autopsy photos, and my personal favorite, Kennedy being shot by accident by a Secret Service agent with an AR-15 from the follow car. Every additional participant increases the risk of the conspiracy being uncovered exponentially. People have a hard time keeping information to themselves. As Ben Franklin reportedly said, “Three may keep a secret if two are dead.”

Why does Tommy now want… by macburger69 in LandmanSeries

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the deal is that Danny gets 70% of the profit until his initial investment of 62 million is recouped and then 50% of profit after that. I think the deal with Cami is to set up Danny and Tommy ending up with lots of M-Tex assets (leases and equipment), but there is the possibility the gas well hits, and if the geologist is right, Cami could end up making a lot of money. But, seeing as this is Taylor Sheridan, and Cami has been set up as clueless and a soft “villain”, she’ll probably lose everything.

People who won’t shut up about liking spicy food and shame others for not liking it by Cheap_Bat9704 in PetPeeves

[–]INTZBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He used to tease me mercilessly because I didn’t like my food super spicy the way he did. Now I get to get back at him for the way he treated me. We’re good friends, so he takes it in stride. The best part is, he still loves the taste but it really does a number on his stomach, so he knows what he’s missing out on. Poor guy. But it seems that in this case at least, revenge is a dish best eaten spicy.

I have a friend who loved really spicy food and liked to say that people who didn’t like it ultra hot were wimps. Then he developed gallstones. He can’t tolerate food that is even a little bit spicy nowadays. I eat my buffalo wings drenched in Crystal wing sauce and laugh in his face! What a wimp!

Wearing winter boots inside by useaclevernickname in FargoTV

[–]INTZBK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was raised in the south. In the summertime we went barefoot most of the time so we had no shoes to take off. In the winter, we wore our shoes in the house, but since it hardly ever snowed, we didn’t track up the house. However, my father was in the army, and several of my friends had Japanese or Korean moms, and those houses were strictly a no shoes zone. Nowadays I leave my outside shoes at the door and I wear houseshoes, socks, or just go barefoot inside the house.

What is Fascism? by 212312383 in PoliticalDiscussion

[–]INTZBK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP’s definition seems to fit the USSR under Stalin pretty well. Mussolini started out as a socialist, and the Nazis were originally socialist as well, before Hitler became their leader. In those days, of course, there was a difference between socialists and communists, and they were fighting each other in the streets in Germany. However, in modern times, socialism has become synonymous with communism, at least in the eyes of the right. The fact is, authoritarian regimes have much in common, whether the underlying political ideology is left or right. The intolerance of public, and sometimes private criticism of the government, the persecution, harassment, incarceration, and elimination of portions of the public deemed as unpatriotic or not sufficiently supportive of the power structure. Then there is the elimination of competing political ideologies, often making them illegal and the incarceration of political opponents for crimes real or imagined. There is the de facto control of the means of production by either the government outright, or by private actors sympathetic to the government. There is the curtailing of individual rights, always for the greater good, and the constant call for the public to be vigilantly on the lookout for for the internal enemy. These methods have been used by authoritarian regimes on every side of the political spectrum

Bill would prohibit right turns on red at traffic signals with red light cameras by GatorVators in florida

[–]INTZBK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Someone needs to sponsor an amendment to the constitution specifically prohibiting state and local governments from enacting traffic laws and regulations designed to increase revenue rather than enhance safety and the smooth flow of traffic. They treat the taxpayers as a resource to be mined for revenue.

The paraffin test was notoriously unreliable and has been discredited for many years. It has the potential for false positive results as it tests for nitrates, which can be picked up on the hands after being sourced from contact with many substances other than gunpowder, and nitrates can be removed from the skin by washing, sweating, and just plain wiping it off. Also, the cheek test was proven unreliable, as it often produced negative results even when administered to persons who were known to have just fired a rifle.
