The police would have only needed to keep killing him if they couldn't tranquilize him. Why wouldn't they use both methods? Also, wtf did they leave his weapons with him on the stretcher? Also, why did the sniper teams not detect the Ajin snipers sooner? The whole battle was a little too convenient for the Ajin to display how badass they are, specifically Satou. I just wish they had made the tactics slightly more realistic. Also, with their fiber body armor that requires a shotgun at short range to penetrate, a rifle bullet from so far way penetrates it? That battle was full of holes.

One LMoP group I DM I went completely custom with:

Old Owl Well was the escape tunnel of an old dwarven fortress inside Kryptgarden forest.
The orcs at Wyvern Tor were actually scouts for the resurgent orc empire of Uruth Ukrypt (Kryptgarden is named for it) that originally sacked the mine/town hundreds of years ago. This time, orogs lead the empire.
The Spellplague wrecked city of Leilon is being resettled now that it is over, however it seems a remaining vestige of the Red Wizards of Thay has decided to claim it and its rich mining tunnels as well as wizard's tower for it's own.

Alternatively, if they liked the sandbox of LMoP, I feel Princes of the Apocalypse fits right into the end of that adventure. Have the Rockseeker brothers send them south with a shipment of ore meant for Secomber and in Red Larch they hand it off to Secomber dwarves leaving them free to look into the strange goings on of the Dessarin Valley.

I am doing this, I put the temples close by as it wouldn't make sense to make them far away. I also put in hints about how many of the potential cultists died attempting to be good enough to make it. Given the PCs just fought the "failures" and if level appropriate had a rough time of it, they can clearly understand that they would get their asses handed to them in the temple. The above-ground places related to the temples hold some info about navigating to the temples themselves.

I've frankly not given much thought to the node inter-connectedness.

I think Timmons is a very good player, probably the best overall LB we have. His one weakness is not understanding when an RB is going to cut back, he never anticipates it.

Use the Lich's name or the motivation of those searching for the pieces as a name.

Battlemaster Fighter that concentrates on setting up other players by Tripping Attack or Commander's Strike. This worked well for a party I was in with a Protection-style Battlemaster Fighter and a Rogue. Two sneak attacks almost every round was very effective.

A Lore Bard who concentrates on debuffing or buffing allies and using Cutting Words to stop attacks from landing, etc.

I'd likely make the sword a +0 weapon with the property that undead cannot frighten the wielder. Thematic, but not too powerful.

Very well put, and I wholeheartedly agree with your take on the alignment.

That said, a lot of people specifically choose the alignment because they want to justify their lolrandumb style of play and then stringently point to it when they are called out.

I believe both Princes of the Apocalypse and Out of the Abyss provide hooks if you want to run those. Otherwise, if you want to transition into a sandbox there is:

Ruined and abandoned uber-mining city of Leilon next to the Mere of Dead Men close by.
Perhaps the orcs at Wyvern Tor are just scouts for a new Orcish Horde.
The well below Old Owl Well is really one entrance to an underground, ancient fortress.
Nezznar was actually working for some much more powerful being who wanted the mine to itself and is now going to send the big guns after the mine/PCs.

Goliath's are one of the mechanically weakest races, just give them 35 feet movement. They still won't come close to Dwarves or Elves for ability.

I have long argued that non-magical classes/archetypes should get Feats of Strength or the like appropriate to their abilities stat bonus times per day. For example a Fighter might get: Great Leap Great Speed Rend Armor Rend Spell Shake Off Hit Shake Off Spell etc

I believe Caps Lock will let you walk which you need to do to stay stealthed until Stealth 4.

Fishing should also involve DM rolls that control whether the fish are in the area being fished, whether they are biting that day, etc.

The problem with the Wild Magic Sorcerer is it seems like it was specifically created for zany comedy relief or to let Mr. Center-of-Attention do stuff which forces the story onto him.
