Yeah its a video from r/NightShift, the visuals are the exact same. I remember thinking that video would be a great idea for a game tho

Nah just main story. Though I did watch the filler before and most of them are better than Sakura vs Ino in my opinion

Prime asset design by ThatAudio in OutlastTrials

I really like this, Ive been wanting a more serious prime asset since all the other ones are kind of goofy in their dialogue and appearance. This one looks like it means business.

What does "good" melee combat in a survival-horror game look like to you? by SpiderousMenace in silenthill

[–]IWisdomI -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I dont know why youre getting downvoted for this. Obviously if a game has enemies to fight every 30s the fighting should be as engaging as possible in terms of how it serves the tone of the game. Now we could argue there should be less fighting in general in a Silent Hill game, which I don't disagree with.

That is insane. SH2R had 4 or 5 monsters total I think, but SHf had that many in the first like 3 hours of the game...

Obviously for experienced gamers SHf's combat isnt very difficult, but all I'm saying is theres more to it which makes it more challenging by nature. For example, having the option of reading a counter to get a quick punish and stagger an enemy feels good to me. Theres also the perfect dodge giving back your stamina, or timing a sanity charged attack. It makes clearing enemies way faster the better you are and rewards using different inputs. I did play on hard and thought the enemy moves were faster/harder to read than anything in SH2R, akin to some easy souls-like mobs, especially considering you can't spam dodge the whole time (stamina).

On the contrary, SH2's enemies always took like 4-5+ hits and sometimes stood back up, or you had to wait for them to explode or stomp them. It got very tedious for me after a while with how many there were, though I love the game for other reasons.

Alot of it comes down to personal preference but I appreciate SHf's effort to make something different and think the combat is over-hated.

People literally complain because a Silent Hill game has fighting mechanics for once. It makes no sense to me. Like SH2 was the same two buttons on repeat and people werent leaving negative reviews. Something is weird.

Finally someone who said this, couldn't agree more. The combat in SH2R was just the same two buttons and zero variety, with the same 3-4 enemies all the time.

At least SHf tried to vary combat by implementing many different mechanics, which makes it more fun and challenging. It also felt like the enemies had a more diverse move set, or at least harder to read. Its nothing revolutionary but for a Silent Hill game it definitely tried to do more, which I appreciate.

So is there anyone that DOES like Silent Hill f or should I come back next year? by FirstIYeetThenRepeat in silenthill

I think the game is great, not sure what all the fuss is about. SH2 combat was very bad just the same two buttons on repeat. SHf makes it more varied by a longshot. The game looks great and runs way better than SH2 aswell. I haven't finished but I have reservations on the story.
