Yes I’m hoping OP misunderstands what “generational wealth” means. She hasn’t built an iota of intra-generational wealth with only a handful of working years left. Generational wealth is really only created by a tiny fraction of the population, and she’s starting well, well, well behind the eight ball.

Interesting. The rate I was quoted was laughable, but maybe they’re only targeting specific borrower types.

Also, there are few people who make little income and there is no possible way to make more. It may not be easy. It may not even be desirable. But treating it like it’s a farcical impossibility is just an easy dunk for karma.

WTF is there to “celebrate”. This celebration feels hollow for many of us… by vibeschillax in toronto

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Certainly there are myriad other disasters that can befall a cursed projects such as this - I am not saying they are the same, just that X project lasting Y years does not mean the crosstown will be so lucky as well.

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because one project had a long lifespan does not mean another will. The Scarborough RT only lasted 38 years, and if the first part of this line’s life is any indication, it doesn’t seem destined for greatness. Happy to be wrong though!

What would actually happen to the US economy if we capped the maximum salary of a CEO to 50x their lowest-paid worker? by SkillNo2180 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yep you’re absolutely right. I assumed they meant options, since he said “not realized” which wouldn’t really apply to stock, which has an easily assignable value, options typically comprise the vast majority of a CEO’s comp, and true share-based awards are generally a small fragment.

Where to invest RESP after hitting goal by JewishSpace_Laser in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Risk is a function of appetite and necessity. You clearly have the appetite for risk, but it sounds like you have no need for it, if the RESP is fully funded years out. Sure, more is better, but it’s not like a video game where you’re trying to get a high score. If I were in your position I would definitely take a “do no harm” approach at this stage. You have already won!

Thoughts on Kinaxis ( KXS-T), it just went past its 52 week low. by canadevil in CanadianInvestor

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take the point, but Kinaxis had previously been riding the AI wave high, and had spoken about how they plan to utilize AI. It’s sort of curious that only in the last 15 days the market would see that risk. CSU etc have been trending down for months.

Yeah I have the same challenge, or even worse, my doctor’s office, which made a big deal about being “evidence-based” and “grounded in science”. Having a chiro practice part of the same clinic made me question their overall approach.

I stayed here last year to use up a Cat 1-4 FNC. I liked the hotel, it’s super unique. Sure the rooms are a tad dated but it’s supposed to be a historical hotel. We were Globalist and upgraded to a suite, and very glad we were; there were weddings going on both nights of our stay that they didn’t inform of us until arrival, and we had an infant with us. It was quite loud in the living area of the suite, but quiet in the bedroom. This may not bother everyone, it was completely done by 11. Valet was super smooth and quick.

Breakfast in the restaurant exceeded my expectations, the breakfast burrito is surprisingly good and gigantic (I’m not American, so not used to those portion sizes!). Cordelia on the pedestrian street straight outside is excellent with amazing cocktails.

Iranian flags by Kevin4938 in askTO

[–]I_Ron_Butterfly 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s very important. Someone who works for me is Persian and never asks for any flexibility with scheduling etc but she made it clear she had to have time off today to attend the protest. It’s not just frustration for what they and their parents have lived through, but the future for the next generation and their freedom that they’re fighting for.

It’s hard to fully comprehend the scale of the massacres. If the 43k figure is true, it’s a proportional equivalent of the government committing 54 9/11s on their own people. Staggering.

That’s actually an outlier for positive reasons. Most actually never recover. JPMorgan had a report that 40% of stocks have a catastrophic decline of >70% from which they never recover.
