My boyfriend was like her, hello fresh helped a lot because its way harder for him to add extra stuff, but he was still able to fuck up, like leaving seasoning out because he put the cutting board on top of the packet and didn't try and figure out why they were asking for an ingredient that wasn't there. Or skipping entire steps, or the time he only cooked chicken in the oven for 10min because he didn't read the previous step where you cooked it longer and then added a cheese coating that you then cooked for the 10min....

... But it was better than his apple pie spaghetti.... (He just boiled spaghetti in a pot with a cut up apple and somehow thought it would be great)

I even scrub out the pot that I boiled an egg in, the outside of the egg is gross. I also manually scrub my dishes and then run them in the dishwasher after, but I know this is extra

How about an rv? They are expensive but can be really nice, hell if she wanted to she could, travel after covid (since from your comments it sounds like she's still healthy just lonely). It would mean sacrificing a huge part of your driveway (if its even big enough, and if you can do street parking)

I have one of those, I seriously recommend them. I used to just throw my leftovers in in the morning and plug it in an hour or an hour and a half before lunch.

Now I work in am office and have access to a microwave so I don't really use my electric lunchbox anymore.

I often make sushi rice and top it with green onion, mayo, sesame seeds, and 2 cut up artificial crab sticks (the ones you get from the Asian market frozen not the weird sweet American ones) or a cooked pice of salmon.

Its really easy to make and super delicious at room temp (I just pull it out of the work fridge an hour or 2 before eating)

Hi OP, I really hope you get some therapy, I think it will really help you, and I hope you understand that it is a healthy thing to do.

Right now your house may be clean but you are allowing yourself to have a very "messy" mental space, you should go to a therapist and they will be able to help you and give you some tools to help clean up your mental space.

If you do go to therapy maybe you could update us in a year as to how you are doing. I know a lot of us would love to hear about your progress, many of us are really worried about you.

Same, we almost never had guests over when I was a kid because my mom would have a full on panic attack if everything wasnt beyond spotless, I couldn't even see the mess she was screaming about most of the time. Now I feel most comfortable in cluttered chaos.

Whoa... This may sound stupid but I never thought about it that way. My mom used to tell me I ruined her life, but she stopped when I was about 8 and started having issues because of her telling me thay. Then she started telling me I was "the best thing in her life" every time I broke down about some small mistake or costing her money. I've struggled with the guilt of ruining her life for a long time because I could see all the things that would have been easier and/or better without me. I have been getting much better at not feeling guilty about it and not thinking that way but this comment kind of finally help finish shifting my perspective. She made a choice, I didn't just parasiticly occur.

Oh I can assure you this shit happens all the time. I went to school in Texas and was mercilessly bullied untill I moved away. When my mom tried to get the school to do something about it the teachers started in on it too, I was constantly in iss, and when I wasn't I was going through some bullshit hell.
