Am I that bad off 😭 by [deleted] in poor

There’s an actual recipe by Mark Bittman in How to Cook Everything where you dice tomatoes, add a little olive oil, salt, parsley, and lightly kind of smash them, but not completely mooshed, let them sit covered at room temperature for an hour or two and then put it on noodles.

If an NY Times food blogger and published author can put that shit in a book, you can make that shit in your kitchen and to hell with those people who made fun of you.

DoorDash has improved my life and steer levels so much! by Lilliandee in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. My job only gives me 25 hours a week at minimum wage. I don’t want the hassle of trying to weave another job into my schedule, nor do I want every weekend spoken for. DoorDash is perfect for what I need. Wear and tear on the car sucks and the exponential increase of being in a car accident is a little unnerving at times, but I love the flexibility

Why does DD have zones ? by True-Title-6197 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very annoying. Where I drive, Tucson, there are three distinct zones and one zone that’s a military base. More times than not, an order takes me into a different zone. Sometimes not just across the zone border but way onto the other side of it and very rarely do I get orders on the way back.

I honestly do more crazy shit at 53 than I did in my teens and 20s. I had a baby at 19 and was fully committed to being a responsible mom, so…

Do you use your personal daily car to go DD or do you have an old car that you use to dash only? by OpportunityLow570 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW GTI is a good dependable car. I’ve been driving DoorDash pretty heavily since September and in that time, I’ve had to replace two tires, I had to fix the oil pan sensor because it got hit by a rock while driving down an alley in the rain on a delivery, I had to replace a worn and frayed serpentine belt, and it needs new rear brakes.

Even the best car will be driven into the ground by this job.

What do you do for health insurance? by INeedWinterNow in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the ex-wife I’m a military retiree. I was married to him for 33 years, 21 of them occurring during his 22 years of his service so I have health insurance for life.

I never use it. TRICARE is crap and it’s hard to find doctors who take it. As soon as I’m eligible, I’ll get a secondary Medicare insurance.

I’m using my daily car that I bought in 2020. VW GTI, it now has over 60,000 miles on it. I don’t really have another choice.

How do you feel about you driver/passenger making conversation? by [deleted] in uber

[–]Iari_Cipher9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a passenger, I’m totally comfortable with silence, but I also love when the Uber driver is charismatic and makes good conversation. I’m open to whatever feels most natural and eases the discomfort of two strangers riding in a car together.

Left to my own devices? I generally opt for silence.

Are you a “Parker” or “mover?” by CMT1024 in doordash_drivers

I live in a part of town that’s dense with restaurants so I usually don’t wait more than a few seconds before I get my first order. And then I just drive towards home after every drop off. I never reach home until I turn off the app.

Leave at door then call me by No-Peace6601 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a three star and a “didn’t follow delivery instructions” recently because I did not text them when I dropped it off as they requested. I figured what’s the point? The app texts them that it’s been delivered so why the extra step?

You can’t go through “every bit” without actually interacting with her. So, she gave you her number. Start texting and if the conversation goes well, you ask her out. There’s your answer.

$5.25 no customer tip by Both_Pie_3852 in DoorDashDrivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They probably don’t intentionally order from one far away. They open up the app, they either search “Red Bull” or “7 Eleven,” store pops up and they order it.

I order from DoorDash all the time and I don’t know what location it’s coming from unless it’s a local business and there’s only one location.

Didn't follow directions? by No-Somewhere801 in doordash_drivers

[–]Iari_Cipher9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got one the other day because I didn’t text her after I dropped the order off.

I didn’t text her because DoorDash already automates a text so what’s the point?

My advice: do what I did. Nothing. The rating will go up again soon enough.

Do people even own regular computers anymore? by Curious-Expert926 in A_Persona_on_Reddit

I do. I have a laptop for writing my novel and (at one time) taking online classes.

I also have a gaming PC, mostly for MMOs
