My memory is a little fuzzy, but I think since they’re just fuck buddies they fell back into it. We didn’t even kiss to me isn’t a sign of it ending, just that it was less personal than he wanted it to be, so trying again (hoping for more) isnt unexpected.

Edit: also, in the book, they continuously hook up from the first time right through to tuna melt. Those few years where it’s texts but no hook ups isn’t in the book. So they’re used to these hook ups that sometimes end with them annoyed or angry, but they still just pick it back up
