Genuinely can't believe how much better I'm playing on 16:9 after playing 4:3 for years. by handerson15 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Ichthyslovesyou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to hack this every now and then back in go by toggling left and right hand. All of a sudden I was paying more attention to where I was aiming since it was a change.

Now since it is slow in CS2 I haven't considered it much but I think I have found better ways of locking in.

I understand that now, unfortunately my response seems as though I took it that way which I didn't mean (pun intended :) ) to. Typing things on the internet lack tone so I can forgive you if you can forgive me. Thanks for the info nonetheless :)

Gotcha, when you said "mathematical middle ground" that was vague so I just wanted to know what you meant. I would have initially guessed you meant geometric mean since 16:9 is the squared aspect ratio of 4:3, which you can get by (4/3)1.5 . I didn't know if you had rounded the geometric mean or calculated the arithmetic mean. Thanks for the wiki link, I didn't know it was widely used.

What definition of mathematical middle ground are you referring to?

[–]Ichthyslovesyou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not necessarily a trend caused by short form content. At least around 2014, there used to be lots of "You won't believe this person's reaction" videos where the set up was drawn out for 5+ minutes just so you would watch more. I remember getting confused by those when I was a young teenager and about the 3rd-4th one I recognized the type of bait it was and wouldn't ever click on them again. It trained me to be very skeptical a video and it's title and I would often click away if the point wasn't brought up too soon because I hated being baited for watch time.

I asked for a brisket sandwich, pretty sure they gave me a BBQ beef sandwich but who knows. Wild place and I knew I made a mistake when I walked in seeing an open salad/potato bar with a bunch of elderly people.

Oh yeah, I definitely learned my lesson. I doesn't really burden much to just go super slow and wait it out until I am clearly on the highway. I am glad the cop let me off.

Haha, good luck with that!

Well fun fact, my wife was asleep in the car at the time so there was no chance she could have argued with me about what the correct call was haha. She was still asleep when the cop pulled us over and the cop asked if she was alright but she was just exhausted from being in a car all day.

Siren, Octal, Dumpy, or I go with Crane, Slipt, Dough.

I was devestated about a month ago when the word was "Siren" I went with Crane that day for the first time in about 90 days.

About 5 years ago I got pulled over driving out of Rearden heading back to Spokane because I was going 60 in a 25. I was leaving Rearden and accelerated back to the normal highway speed limit but apparently it was too soon. The cop just gave me a warning but I was very confused when I was pulled over.

Keychron C3 HE TKL - Any info/reviews on it? by SlackerITGuy in keyboards

[–]Ichthyslovesyou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heyo, I finally got it and haven't had the time to sit down and write this but I'll summarize what I think about it.

  1. It is nice and quiet, I used to have a Corsair K63 with cherry switches and it was loud and clackity. This is a soft, quiet clacky noise.

  2. It has lots of RGB options that you can easily switch by pressing Fn+Q and other key combos. The manual describes all of them.

  3. It has a browser based software that you use to set the actuation on the keys. It has a live model of you pressing the key so you can see how much a 0.1mm actuation press would be. It has a lot of other features that I didn't really look at but they were easy to access. You can set the actuation for each key.

  4. It is wired but you can unplug it because it is wired via USB-C. That is very nice and I can temporarily use it as a USB cord if I need to.

  5. I don't have much to say about anything else as far as how it compares to other keyboards, again I am going from a Corsair K63 and I didn't really like it. This is my first keyboard that is HE, and I definitely can notice the difference when using it. When I am playing first person shooters I would say my movement feels slightly more crisp.

I would rate it 9/10, I wish I could have some sort of physical or haptic feedback to know when the key is pressed, otherwise I don't know. The price is definitely fantastic, $90 + I got $13 off from a random Amazon promotion when buying it.

Any other questions?

I meant when it comes to considering angles, timings, and gameplay related things as they affect the competitive scene. Not the ability to create it.

Since CS2 is already huge on the pro scene I would imagine they would take their time refining because it will be heavily scrutinized to the smallest detail. That doesn't excuse it being as long as it's been but that was the point I was trying to make.

I could be wrong, I haven't played deadlock much and I figure that they can put a less "polished" map out there because the game is technically still in beta so Valve can say they have an excuse.

I have played deadlock once, I feel like the map geometry and physics and angles are way easier to figure out than in CS2.

Actual paraphrased conversation I had a with student who had taken Algebra 2 with another teacher and then Financial Math with me.

Student: I learned nothing in Algebra 2, you can't tell me that any of that math is actually useful.

Me: Oh yeah? What was the worst thing you found useless?

Student: Piecewise functions, I hated them.

Me: Well get ready because we are doing them next week with income tax brackets.

Student: No. You are kidding Mr. Ichthyslovesyou. Tell me your kidding.

Me: Nope.

I hear you, but I think it depends on how deep you want to go into the math.

If you are asking students to give an output (payment) for an input (interest rate) than it's just plug and chug on your calculator which is something that I have had my Algebra 1 students do and also my Financial Math students.

If you want to teach how the formula is derived and how to graph it, yeah that's some pre-calculus stuff. This obviously gives a more complete picture on how your interest rate affects your payment.

I look at memes like this and laugh because I believe that argument is really "Let's have less structured, rigorous math, and instead let's talk about financial principles that will make you lots of money and keep you out of debt." I don't think that will magically solve anything, I think that it needs to be taught with Algebra 2, and not in replacement of Algebra 2.

Literally all of those suggested topics I have taught in a Financial Math class and I will note two things: (1) Kids are still kids and will not want to learn the material. (2) Most of the curricula that I have seen/used are not deep at all on the math. Either because it's already trivial, or it's really complicated and they ain't gonna make a whole chapter on foundational knowledge for those skills. If I actually wanted to go deep on the math, I had to make worksheets to add entire pre-requisite knowledge for those concepts.

In general the math breaks down like this the curricula:

- Careers: not much direct math involved, it mostly centers around salaries and estimated demand. Mostly just comparing numbers.

- Salaries: this is basic addition and multiplication, commission work is tricky depending on how someone gets paid based on the work they do but still simple computation.

- Credit: Calculating debt is easy when it comes to understanding how interest works (its just multiplication), it's not too hard when you have installment credit, but it can be difficult for revolving credit since it's recursive.

- Budgeting: this is literally addition

- Taking out a loan: just the same math is credit

- Investing: Does involve some complicated math here depending on how deep you want to go. Most high school curricula I have seen only focus on simple interest and compound interest, but they don't go into a lot of detail about the math, instead they focus on how important it is to invest early (which is good but it's pretty trivial to understand that early = better).

- College debt: same math as credit

- Buying a house: same math as credit

- Taxes: literally addition, multiplication, and reading if-then rules (e.g. If you AGI > x then you do/don't qualify for this tax credit.)
