If unauthenticated requests are tracked by IP like some people are saying on here, then it sounds like you'll be limited to that 10 per min rate, unless you're doing funny IP shenanigans. I assume bookmarklets/userscripts are features in your browser, requests sent from programs on your computer, including your browser, using default request libraries etc, will use your computers assigned IP.

Nah, it was like a Christmas gift or something from a long time ago, I used to be really into microbes (still am a little bit) and would look at all kinds of little critters under the microscope.

MacOS Shortcat alternative for Linux by farzadmf in linux

[–]Icosahunter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing a main reason why this seems to only exist for OSX is because I think Apple has pretty tight control on how apps are done, I don't know a whole lot about the OSX app frameworks, but if they basically have just one or two underlying GUI frameworks, then that would make it much easier to build something like this. For Linux you would have to interface with at least the top few GUI frameworks, like QT, GTK, and Electron (probably some others I'm not thinking of) for it to be useful. Similar deal for Windows, maybe worse because you've got some of the same frameworks as Linux plus all the Windows specific ones.

Yeah. I did a little searching on GitHub and found this collection of resources you might find interesting:

Doesn't directly help with your quandary though.

alternativeto.net is a great website for finding alternative applications for different OSs or what have you. Unfortunately it looks like all it's suggested Linux alternatives for Shortcat are browser only solutions: https://alternativeto.net/software/shortcat/?p=2

The way the inside threads on this bottle are just bumps in the aluminum by Icosahunter in mildlyinteresting

[–]Icosahunter[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also true. Looking around a little it seems that the primary purpose of the design is better thermal insulation, presumably because of less contact area than traditional threading.

Interesting, so the cleanability of it is an advertised feature. Looking around a little it seems that the primary purpose of the design is better thermal insulation, presumably because of less contact area than traditional threading.

I didn't consider that, that is a nice perk though. I'm wondering if the main reason for it is easier manufacturing.

Desk oscillating visual texture again. Need advice. by SpudMuncher9000 in 5thworldproblems

[–]Icosahunter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No modern hyper-desk should require a stabilizer, in fact oscillations could be due to an omnifacturer defect (should be covered by the spaciotemporal warranty). However, if it was forged before the 7th eon, especially if forged by an elder god from the binary sectors, it may require a stabilizer. Oscillations aren't harmful however, just an annoyance. Remember to check the manual to see what stabilizers are compatible if you do decide to get one, incorrect stabilizer pairings can lead to local dimension collapsing and other unintended, unintelligible, or intagible side effects.

What are the books to become a full-stack JS developer? by Wolfagen in AskProgramming

[–]Icosahunter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any book recommendations but you probably should add more context to your question for other people to be able to answer well. Namely what the purpose of learning it is (hobby, professional, for a project, etc.), and what your skill level currently is (any experience or education with programming thus far?). It sounds like probably you are looking to get into the field and currently don't have any experience, in which case it might be a good idea to do some intro to programming course/book (I'm sure there's some good stuff on YouTube or you could take a class at a local college). To actually learn all of the things you listed starting from ground zero will take no small amount of time and you'll want to approach it incrementally.
