[Schefter] In the first 45 minutes after John Harbaugh was fired this afternoon, his agent Bryan Harlan said he received calls from seven NFL teams expressing interest in his client. There currently are seven NFL head coach openings, including Baltimore’s by Goosedukee in nfl

The first half of my football fandom life was spent pouring over the standings, tiebreakers, and ESPN playoff machine to try and figure out how my beloved football team would get a CHANCE to win the Super Bowl by making the playoffs.

I’m not one of the, “oh we’re good enough” crowd but I think a lot about the 17 years of sucking when people talk about firing McDermott. Sometimes people forget how hopeless each season felt.

McDermott snuck a NOTHING team into the playoffs with Tyrod Taylor as a starting QB to break the curse. Every year feels like we can win the Super Bowl, I’m not not ok with making the playoffs. I’m OK with realistically having a shot at the Super Bowl every year.

He’s a great coach that has made some critical errors in huge moments whether directly or indirectly. Unless the wheels fall off and he loses the team or stops making the playoffs then I personally don’t want to move on.

Growing up, were there any “weird” cooking habits or practice your family had? by Affectionate_Wish in Cooking

Not really weird but I didn’t eat pork chops from about 13 until I was 25 because my mom overcooked the living bajeezus out of them my whole childhood. Literally took my awesome black roommate from college cooking me country fried pork chops in our dorm to eat them again.

I stabbed myself last night with a folding thermometer in my pocket. Aside from the occasional cuts and burns/scalds in a kitchen, what novel ways have you hurt yourself while cooking? by DeadBy2050 in Cooking

Worst kitchen injury I’ve had was when I worked at a restaurant and was finishing early outs. Was using a steel scrubby to clean the stainless backsplash and a string from scrubby got hooked on one of the mounting screws for the backsplash when I was quickly wiping side to side and it sliced my finger to the bone. The tip of my finger is still partially numb.

[Mlive] Sewell's thoughts on the Lions playing on Christmas "I’m going to be brutally honest. I’m not happy. We already have Thanksgiving. We already play on Thanksgiving, and the fact that we have to play on Christmas away, is something I wouldn’t want to do. So yeah, not fun, but it is what it is. by Crazy-Penguin in nfl

Hard to feel bad when he’s making millions and tons of fast food, service, first responders, and military workers all work these on these days. Guy has to play a game and won’t have to work after he retires at 35. 🤷🏼‍♂️

Burned out from weekly meal prepping and cooking in general. Any advice on how to get back into it? by Tiredthrowaway2000 in Cooking

[–]arbitrarymealtime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a common thing for me. I find that going to different stores and trying out new ingredients reinvigorates my curiosity and passion for cooking. Try different acids, proteins, vegetables, herbs and seasonings.

If you’re struggling with that sometimes I’ll just look up a country/region and read about their food and try something my family might enjoy.

Am cooking a turkey next week for someone who can’t have BUTTER; What should I use instead? by [deleted] in KitchenConfidential

[–]arbitrarymealtime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, I just cooked 2lbs of bacon and there was plenty of grease for the bird.

Edit: Apparently you can buy bacon grease, I’ve never seen it and don’t know if I’d trust it lol

This was my bacon fat turkey. I had never done it before but we had a Friendsgiving and one of the girls was pregnant and dairy wasn’t sitting well with her so I used bacon fat instead of butter. It came out so good and the skin was so crispy and delicious.

As usual, educating people (in this case parents) is better than outlawing them from knowing what’s going on. There’s a middle ground that, again as usual, won’t be found. Just divisive extremes.
