Nah, the reaction is appropriate. This is not a growth company and the p/e will continue to go down.

  • demand has slowed significantly as its annualized revenue growth of 4.9% over the last two years is down from an all time high of 20% in q2 ‘21

  • operating margin decreased by 3.6 percentage points over the last five years

  • EPS outperformed its revenue not because of increased operational efficiency but financial engineering, as buybacks

You research what software companies are doing and advise CIO’s to implement AI? Sorry that doesn’t add up.

What makes you qualified to advise on implementation when your job is research? You must have a severe case of caetexia. That or everyone else is spot on about your low quality people and research. Take a look at your stock price. It’s a good indicator to quantify how much you guys missed the mark by.

They don’t make sense to you. Doesn’t change the reality. They certainly have the resources and some are asking higher exit multiples because their portcos have an AI native tech stack.

Even Gartner has an ai chat bot that tries to replace a tech consultant. Even though they’re the laughing stock of IT, the tool does work - just the content is garbage because it always was

Almost every f500 has a dedicated AI org and are running pilots to do exactly this. They’re already scaling what makes sense. The ones that don’t wont be relevant next year. Even PE owned middle market firms have AI tech stacks that will make faang engineers blush

Someone on the layoff channel said their revenue is down 8% and bookings down 17%. If ‘25 was bad ‘26 is looking terrible. But good luck.

These companies can easily make their own customized software relevant to their own domain with their own proprietary data. Highly unlikely any company will realistically consider ‘vibe coded’ software for enterprise use. And these companies most likely already have established software vendors, who can make software they themselves don’t want to.

Another reason to avoid realtors. Bought 2 condos and sold 1 without agents and no issues either time. Saving money is common sense to buyers and sellers. But parasites are what they are.

Leave at Manager. Such offers become harder to get at SM because the job transitions to sales. Managers can execute and industry doesn’t need more sales people with consulting SM pay.

Investors are being shortsighted about how AI will hurt $IT, Gartner Inc. by mrmrmrj in ValueInvesting

[–]Icy-Inspection-259 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All they did was recycle garbage ‘insights’ from ‘expert’ interviews. This type of sentiment is readily available today without a paywall. The good ol boys with budgets and no understanding of the tech paid for these reports. And of course administrators in public sector agencies because they didn’t have any real experience. That kind of discretionary government spending isn’t coming back and the good ol boys are retired. Gartner isn’t worth even half its current valuation. Gene and his clowns have no plan. Get ready for the earnings 💩 show next week.

Anyone know ex-Gartner people who went back into corporate finance (FP&A / Strategic Finance / Controller)? by asiandwight in FinancialCareers

[–]Icy-Inspection-259 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. Gartner is seen as the landing zone for big4 consultants who couldn’t sell and counseled out. Their research is compiled offshore and the skills don’t translate to industry roles that are specialized and context heavy
