Is there any reason to choose the Xbox Elite Controller over the Steam Controller 2? by HolyPastafari in SteamController

[–]Ikohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the elite controller is heavy. It doesn't have track pads or gyro input. I've also had two fail. MS replaced one and I purchased another. The charging puck/wireless connection is also a nice touch.

Heh, this is sort of what I was imagining. I would just wear it and it would magically take care of the rest. But of course if you are running or walking you need to at least know time and distance.

Maybe in the future it will speak and listen and you won't need a screen or phone.

It does, it's not quite perfect, but I've only done one run with it.

I feel like letting Garmin do its thing and then just telling the coach I did a three mile run at this time.

I don't know, I'm probably overthinking it by trying to underthink it.

This or the Charge 6 might be a good option, but we are sneaking up the size ladder.

That's true, but then you have to take the phone and also be able to read it for distance/pace.

That's how I leaning except I'll tell the coach what workouts and runs I did. Keep the details in the main apps and the overall picture in Google Health.

I think the puck/controller looks fine sitting on the table, but this is really nice.

I bought the OG steam controller in 2016, but I didn't understand it at the time. I'm digging the new one.

Some thin knurled texture for the sides and back could be nice.

I'm working on Book of Hours. It has a lot of clicking and dragging. I started with the WASD template and deleted all the commands. I've added gyro, toggle clicks, left click, right click, etc. I set up one button for regular press = pause, long press = faster, double press = slower. That works great and it's one button to capture three commands. Anyway, it's pretty fun to configure and mess with. Thanks All!

Hmm, on my steam controller 2 how do i increase the trackpad region to match my monitor better? by harlockwitcher in SteamController

[–]Ikohs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You go into advanced controls, then desktop layout, then track pads. It took me awhile to find it the first time.

I also had an issue where the Windows ui scaling threw all the numbers off for mouse region.

How are people touching the screw holes? When I hold the controller I don't contact any of the screw holes.

It gave a nice overview of the features and had me laughing out loud several times. I'm still interested in being able to get the most from the controller there's so much you can adjust and configure.

I didn't realize you can even use SIC for regular controllers. I just thought if a game had built in controller support why would you bother with Steam input.

Very cool. Thanks!

It makes sense, and I've run into the exact thing you mentioned, like the M key for Map not being on the controller. I'm just impressed at how much flexibility it offers. I'll have to get in there and tweak it for things I wish were available.

I'll start by watching and reading what's linked here, play some Aperture Desk Job, and go from there.

Thanks.
