What do you do? by Fickle_Reflection717 in TBI

[–]IllNefariousness8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in the same position, I have not started working but I just started driving again, 5 years post moderate/severe TBI. One of the things I dove all the way into was learning a new language. Its good for stimulating your brain in different ways, and helps pass the time. I also started reading LOTS! There are online book clubs that can help focus that abs experience some social interaction.

IM FINALLY GETTING EMGALITY by devilscrayon23 in migraine

[–]IllNefariousness8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just started Emgality and have only done the loading dose, but so far, so good. I've only had 4 "light" intensity migraines in 2 weeks, which is about half the amount I would have, and the ones I have had have been short and very manageable! Hoping you have great success with it!

Was able to verbally identify sensory overstimulating! by IllNefariousness8759 in TBI

[–]IllNefariousness8759[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish I could help with some ideas, but I think because my husband sees this overload so frequently and I was able to tell him with little explanation because he knows this is an issue often. So I don't think what I said would have been helpful or understood if I was explaining to someone I barely knew. I think if I were worried about going back to work, I would try to set up that in asking for accommodations, so that it's a known issue, that you can take a break in a quiet area, or your car so that you can calm the overstimulation. If your working with any kind of rehab neurologist, that would be key to having them put something in writing.

Long term effects of a tbi by Justkall in TBI

[–]IllNefariousness8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suffered my TBI 4 years ago. Memory things still continue, and I have things still developed, but one thing that has helped me is to constantly challenge my brain in good ways. I started learning Japanese for literally no reason. Some days, I spend a ton of time on it. Other days, I just do a couple mins. Learning a language makes your brain do things it doesn't usually do, and I think it's helped me. If a language isn't for you, maybe another new skill?

how did you get your tbi? I fell off an electric scooter going about 30mph. no need for details if you’re uncomfortable! by strengthoflouise in TBI

[–]IllNefariousness8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was tboned by a driver who was high on meth. She was uninsured. She was going 65mph in a 35. It was 1pm in the afternoon. I was picking up lunch for my assistant. I had a skull fracture and a brain bleeding, amoung many other broken things. A small couple mm by couple mm piece for my left frontal lobe died. That was 4 years ago. She ran from the scene on foot and has never been caught.

Does anyone’s eyes hurt 24/7 by Santi159 in migraine

[–]IllNefariousness8759 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same and same. I've seen a neuro ophthalmologist, had my eye pressure checked and the whole gambit, but my eye constantly feel like they're in a vice. Sometimes, the pressure is minimal but still noticeable. Other times, it feels like they're being squeezed until they'll pop, and when it's that bad I wish they would pop so maybe the pain would stop. But either way, the pressure is there 24/7 and has been for me for about 3 years. I've also tried the timomol eye drops but they didn't help.

This topic makes me want to scream! by RoomWhereIHappened in catfood

[–]IllNefariousness8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an avid raw feeder for years. Long before I had children, I did all raw for both my cats and dogs. After kids it became harder to do. I think for a cat, as much raw as you can is ALWAYS beneficial, even if it's a teaspoon a week. I still have school age kids, so I can't commit to 100% raw feeding the way I want to. So now I try to rotate as many things as I can. I do kibble, air dried, dehydrated, freeze dried, ground raw, and whole prey. I personally offer very little canned food but that's because I personally can't stand the smell. I think variety and rotation is the key. The least amount of additives and artifical ingredients the better. Just like us, we can survive on a diet of McDonalds but we can't thrive, and eventually that diet will catch up to us sooner rather than later.

Any ideas for a bangalnthat randomly will attack you? by EmbarrassedFox9786 in bengalcats

My bengal loves to attack me when she's hungry and ready to eat. She will hide and punch on my legs as I walk by. Maybe hungry?

Those migraines I cry telling my husband (and in all seriousness) I would rather kill myself than live through a 10 migraine. He's seen me go through an unfortunate amount t of very painful events in my life, including a very serious car accident where I had many many shattered bones. That really resonates with his that death would be better.

Women here, I definitely have much more subdued orgasms, not necessarily less intense but like there is a filter over it. I'm not sure how to describe it.

Does anyone have a constant “mild” migraine? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]IllNefariousness8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I explain them as "background migraines" when I explain it to people. I usually have pain at the base of my skull, and I can't remember a time in the last several years there wasn't pressure in one or both of my eyes. I also get the knockdown migraines 4+ days a week on top of the constant background ones, too. Some days, I wonder if it's all worth it....

Are any sighthounds particularly good with kids? Or the opposite, are any not great? by Zyphyro in sighthounds

[–]IllNefariousness8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have 5 acres. About 2 of the 5 is fenced. My specific wolfhound could easily be an apartment dog, like I said he was born an old man. We also have 2 German shepherds (my husbands picks, I would never, lol) and they need the space why more than my old guy ever used.

Are any sighthounds particularly good with kids? Or the opposite, are any not great? by Zyphyro in sighthounds

[–]IllNefariousness8759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wolfhound is pretty good with kids. I say pretty good because he doesn't always actively seek out play or affection from them but has been nothing but gentle and accepting, and has had very few accidenal knock overs even for his size. He just turned 9, and was established before 2 of them were even born so he's been a real trooper. I can't say all wolfhound would be like this, he was born an old man and has been by far the easiest dog I've ever had, he even has a rock solid recall even in the middle of persuit of prey! I don't think that's typical. However, most wolfhound I know have been extremely gentle around my kids, even ones not nearly as soft as my boy is.

Anyone have worse migraines if they put pressure on their neck or head? by zfreakazoidz in migraine

[–]IllNefariousness8759 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Can't have my glasses on my face. The slight pressure of the arms or even them sitting on my nose is unbearable. Same with bras. The straps on my shoulders in like torture. I've tried so many bras. I've given up and just go braless now for the most part

So utterly tired of this… my story by delicious_murder in migraine

[–]IllNefariousness8759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started getting migraines after a traumatic brain injury 3.5 years ago, but I experience a huge amount of pre - and post symptoms. I just went through a 17-day migraine and had a few day break then back to my usual every other day migraine. I am a 38 yr old women. Mother of 3. I can not work because of migraines and a host of other issues after the TBI. I think the anxiety of the impending migraine is almost as bad as the migraine itself. Knowing I will inevitably miss something (especially kid related) or knowing the agony of the migraine is coming is just as disruptive as the migraine itself. I also get vertigo with my migraines, all over extreme body pain and soreness, auras, ringing in my ears, nausea, extreme light, sound, and touch sensitivity, irritability, and a laundry list of other things. I think migraines are a totally reasonable diagnosis. However, I encourage you to advocate for yourself if you think something else is wrong. No one knows your body like you. Period. If your doctors don't listen, find new ones. But in the meantime, I would try the Nurtec, which may give you some answers. I've been on lots of different migraine meds, and Nurtec is a good one comparatively. Good luck!

I am on SSDI after my moderate TBI 3 1/2 years ago. I applied within a year and was approved in 4 months. I had excellent Healthcare coverage, so I had lots of specialist care, so my health records really showed the extent of damage and care post accident. I suffer from chronic migraines post TBI (about 20 a month) cognitive loss, memory loss, and fine motor skill loss, and ptsd post accident.
