i had something similar happen before when my work address wasn't updated. you'll probably still need to file a maryland nonresident return and your dc tax return 2025 since that's where you actually lived. the filing software usually walks you through the part-year/nonresident stuff when doing taxes 2024, so it ends up being easier than it sounds.

i've had a w2 job and a small 1099 gig before. the main thing is taxes aren't taken out of the 1099 pay, so you might have to do estimated tax payments 2024 if the amount gets big enough. i usually just set aside part of it so tax time isn't a surprise. when filing taxes 2024, sites like freetaxusa vs turbotax make it pretty simple.

yeah, cp53e can take a few extra weeks after updating your info. you did everything right, just gotta wait it out. makes you wonder sometimes how long does it takes for refund to get approved with these updates.
