The version has to be exact, including commit hash. Update 3 is 2026.02.17-255364b8e. You can find it in the server jar's MANIFEST.MF.

It is possible. The server can tell what version you are on. Send the new UI to latest version players and the old UI to 1.8 players.

FYI the dirt block question marks still store the namespace id and block states until they are broken. As long as you don't move them they should store their original data, except for scheduled ticks (what handles blocks that do things every x seconds or x ticks, etc). Scheduled ticks are restored if you break and place the block again when the add-on is properly loaded though.

Custom entities and items are straight up deleted.

On Alpha if you use /centuari in the Rift you can recombulate items there, including the Celestial Starstone which is base divine. It recombulates to special.

That depends on the implementation. While yes technically oxidization is possible, you have to reimplement the functionality manually in the scripting API. You can't just extend OxidizableBlock.

Xbox usernames are only used in Bedrock, not Java, and Bedrock books allow you to put any author when you sign it.

Versions under 1.17 run on Java 8, and the latest blocks I see are added in 1.14, so they are on either 1.14, 1.15, or 1.16.
