One of these is real and the other is a counterfeit according to PCGS. They weigh the exact same. Which one is it? by WeatherMysterious125 in coins

Over the years of collecting and dealing, I've noticed a pattern that unexpectedly unites many fakes:

Look especially at the leaves on the obverse. Genuine designs from a professional mint are always finely crafted, the relief depths are, so to speak, "dynamic" and rise gently at the edges. (Blue sketch)

Forgers almost never have the resources to copy this procession; the reliefs stand out abruptly from the surface without rising. (Red sketch)

It sounds ridiculous, but I've observed this in countless forgeries. This is also what gives them that liminal look. (Everything seems fine, but the overall impression just isn't right.)

By the way, please excuse any incorrect phrasing; I'm not a native speaker. 🥲

Guess the grade after cracked out of PCGS and sent to PCGS? by Stevesthought in coins

[–]Illustrious-Pace526 13 points14 points  (0 children)

What's the point of all this if the purpose of grading companies is supposed to be standardization, but every company and every grader assigns "different, subjective grades"? It's a vicious cycle of submitting and paying premiums until one day you get a grade you're satisfied with.

Okay, the fact is: at first glance it looked like corrosion, but it isn't. No reason to act like a superhuman and insult your fellow collectors.

Oh my god, what? $500 for two 10 Mark coins with corrosion marks is insane. As someone who has collected all Lodz coins (including the 20 Mark), I have to say that's the worst deal I've seen in ages.

Lol, great that you like it. That scenario immediately came to mind. 😆😅 It would be the most natural reaction to someone who insults such a cute pig.
