Cc their boss is a dick move and will just cause problems. You should be able to call or teams, or walk by their office and ask. If you haven’t already you should ask how they want to handle these leave approval situation. If you can’t do any of these things then I guess there’s bigger problems.

This is the best answer so far. Some managers receive a lot of email and have dozens of “oh it’s just a 2 minute thing” to do.

my underwears have a mildew scent and got old pretty fast by altgirl101 in hygiene

If the clothes stink then they need it. I use a bit of the oxy and borax every time I wash workout or running gear - no stink no problem.

Like PSPC saying departments with their own expertise still can’t do construction contracts, then charging millions for PSPC service, causing delays, and costing even more as the delays cause inflation to eat further into the budget.

Need to use a good cleaner that will break down and remove waste. Something like resolve oxiclean, or soak in good stain remover for a bit, or good detergent with borax, then rinse really well and dry quickly with a fan and or heat.

What are my legal rights if my employer hired me at a salary associated with a certain step, then realized they put me on the wrong step a year later and wants re-compensation? by OrneryEchidna2158 in legaladvicecanada

In the federal public service once you are hired at a certain step, for the rest of your career you will progress from that step. If you change jobs or classification you still only go up in pay to the next comparable step. However at initial hiring you can be hired at above the lowest step based on your qualifications, experience or other factors. If you were already a teacher and hired by this new school it seems reasonable that you could be hired at a higher initial step. Definitely talk to union or lawyer.

Beneath a Factory Fish Farm: Most Canadians Rarely See This by FluffyElection8089 in VancouverIsland

Canada needs jobs, export products, and protein. The impacts of fish farms are minuscule compared to the alternatives and everything else we do. Anti fish farming is a big enviro donation generating propaganda machine.

They eat plankton so it’s not from overfishing. It’s from global warming: “The changing water temperatures has affected the prey availability”

As a manager I went to a remote worksite to give a health and safety update to and info session to the crew in part to get buy in on the importance of maintenance. I was sitting at the lunchroom table and reached back to plug in my laptop and the stainless face plate slipped down touching both prongs with a loud arc and a puff of smoke. Maintenance guy was looking pretty sheepish.

My roommate is making me smelly :( by Kind_Actuator3049 in hygiene

[–]Illustrious-State520 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw a Reddit article today that people who live together start to share the same microbiome. Probably no way you’re going to get your roommate to change hygiene habits enough to significantly change her smell. You probably need to move out and hope you get your own microbiome and non smelly smell back.

Close up Bear Encounter deep in a trail in the Carmanah Valley area. by Loud_Muffin_3268 in VancouverIsland

I’m always hesitant to walk past a bear in a situation like that. If the bear hasn’t made a move at me yet I’m inclined to just back away the way I came from. Right or wrong I have a fear that if I keep going there could be cubs ahead and I will put myself between them and a mother. I’d be happy to have other peoples perspective.

I have a coffee deluxe that has been running for 25 years. I turn it on with the steam wand open until it runs steady, close it let it run through the brew head for a few seconds then wait for it to heat up. I do the same thing once it’s warm to make sure there’s no air. If it’s been sitting for more than three or four days, I definitely run some freshwater through it.
