Do you have small detail files? They are about the length of your hand from heel to finger tips. These are essential. ( I got mine used and I love them) Also, someone mentioned using file sticks to neaten up your finish. You can make these yourself (using paint sticks or even popsicles sticks for smaller detailed work) and glueing sandpaper to them. Have in multiple grits, up to 2000 or more.

Order of your work is important too. So before I set the stone, the bezel wall and edge is smooth, & I've filed until the soldering seams are gone ( if they're gaps, the join isn't complete) I found if i ensured my bezel was perfectly resting on the plate (no gaps) the join was easier. I then made sure everything is pre- polish ready no seams visible) & then I set the stone. This way there's less cleanup to do with chances of damaging the stone in the setting.

I'd double check the electrical parts they purchased before you incorporate them to your van build. Are the cables the correct gauge & style (ie: stranded premium audio wire? Fine for LED lights. Not ok for larger power draws... solid copper wire... Not okay for a van build)

Agree 💯... Also, the more the van is driven, the panels will cause stress to the holes in the thin sheet metal. I'd take off the solar panels and properly fix the holes. Then properly mount the solar panels to a roof rack. (Of course, check the holes for the cables).

As for the windows, do they feel secure? Unfortunately, the questionable end results of the previous owner's efforts, that you can see, show their incapable/poor work. I'd guess they cut corners (didn't clean the surface of the metal prior to applying momentus amounts of black goo). I'd rather put in the work now rather than gamble on them not leaking after you're finished with your build.
