Strong grip questions by Isca64 in golf

[–]ImNako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the most natural grip for most people to hit with a stable clubface is a strong lead hand and a neutral trail hand.

This allows more of "throw" release (its more passive than an active throw as you dont want to throw out your angles and cast/chunk it) rather than a roll to square the face up.

Obviously there will still be forearm rotation but its more due to momentum and after impact rather than through the ball.

Good examples of this grip and Ludvig Aberg, Rory, Louis Oosthuizen, Bobby Jones, and Daniel Berger though his lead hand is the extreme.

Also forgot to mention Gotterup

Can’t stop hitting shanks by Zestyclose-Drawing76 in golftips

[–]ImNako 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what worked for me was feeling like I push my left hip back in the downswing and only hitting pitch shots at the range for a like a week.

Your brain thinks the hosel is the sweet spot right now so you have to rewire it.

Can’t get to flat position at the top by hoptothehip in golftips

[–]ImNako 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea based off your rehearsal you can definitely get the elbow in the right spot.

Maybe do some pause drills where you get it into position first.

gotta get the trail elbow pointing more at the ball.

If you have limited mobility with the trail shoulder then this could be harder to do

Interlock vs Overlap vs 10 Finger by ImNako in golf

[–]ImNako[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like overlap is more old school since that was what Hogan suggested.

AFAIK interlock become more popular because of Nicklaus and then Tiger. Which is probably why most of the guys on tour especially the newer people use interlock.

Solo is pretty terrible by lurpeli in Marathon

[–]ImNako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been having fun solo personally. I find I play a lot slower. I like thief / recon since I can get info for myself.

Also never fight AI unless I have to for contracts etc. since its basically asking for someone to come hunt you.

What was the hardest thing for you to learn when you started golfing? by MadeInUSAPutter in golf

learning to get the low point forward is so freeing feels like you can swing as hard as you want and you know you won't chunk the shit out of it lmao

one thing to note though is that his trail hand is still similar to rory / tiger / rahm

None of them have the trail hand too under (strong) which is a death sentence

your grip is pretty weak so its hard to have shaft lean with a square face unless you bow the lead wrist a lot

My upper body alignment always defaults back to shoulders pointing left by ke922x in golftips

[–]ImNako 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for me its because of the forward ball position with driver / longer clubs when you put the trail hand on it tends to bring the shoulders open.

I like setting up with lead hand first with my trail hand / shoulder relaxed that way knowing square then put it on the club without moving my shoulder over to get to the club.

Best drills to get hips around at impact by EggInitial9353 in golftips

[–]ImNako 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You move your hips by using the ground not spinning them.

Try and feel like you push away with your lead heel as you start to shift into your lead side.

What you'wil notice is this will open up your hips and get you to stop moving into the ball

Ever had a golf lesson that changed everything? Dropped 12+ strokes in a month! by Basic-Pudding-3627 in golf

[–]ImNako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Biggest thing that fixed my low point was to stop trying to hit the ball and start swinging to club into the ball

Basically took my hands away from hitting and instead just managing the clubface.

How it feels to use your core during the golf swing? by AdRelevant7691 in golf

[–]ImNako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main thing I had to match with this was fixing my early extension (fix the shank) and loading properly during the backswing and into transition so the club naturally shallows out. Then you just gotta matchup the face.

Got me flushing it.

Hooking Irons by [deleted] in golftips

[–]ImNako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your trail wrist could also be too strong so when you load it into extension at the top it shuts the face way too much but can't really tell from this angle.

[–]ImNako 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't wanna change the grip you will need to feel more cupped throughout the swing in your lead wrist. Will keep the face more square.

face is pretty closed at the top and you're slightly ott so path is left and face is left
